He made the seventh day the Sabbath, when Jesus rose on Sunday the Christians started keeping that day as Ressurection Sunday, but at the time they still kept the Sabbath bcause they were Jews. Somewhere along the line Christians started keeping "the Lords Day" which is not the Sabbath as their day of rest. In Colossians 2:16 It reads "Do not let anyone judge you by what you eat, or drink, or with regard to religious festivals, or new moon, or Sabbath Day." It seems to me that as long as you have a day of worship and rest, there shouldn't be any kind of controversy.

Saturday is the Sabbath... hence the reason Sabbath Day Adventists attend services on Saturday. It is the "true" day of rest. Sunday is observed as the Lord's day because Jesus arose from the grave on a Sunday... at least according to the bible he arose. He died on Friday and the Jews insisted he had to be buried before 6 pm because it was the start of the Sabbath... their holy day.

As far as working on Sunday... even Jesus "worked" miracles on the Sabbath or holy day. This was one of the reasons the Jewish leaders dispised him so much. And Jesus ask them if their donkey fell into a ditch would they not work to pull it out. So if God were real, I don't think he'd have a problem with you trading on Sunday.

God made the sabbath(a day of rest) for us. He did not make us for the Sabbath. Mark 2:27 states that. My husband is a pastor, and he can honestly tell you that Sunday is not a day of rest for him. His sabbath(day of rest) usually comes on Wednesday or Saturday. The Lord knows each person's heart. I really don't think he cares what day we rest as long as we do. He did it as a benefit to us, not so we would get legalistic about it.

I believe it is important for Christians to gather together as a body of believers and come together corporately to worship and open God's word, but I know many churches that have to do it a different day of the week. There are several chruch plants that I know of that meet through out the week. Are they wrong? No. Once again, they are coming together and worshipping. God knows their heart, and why they do what they do.

Our heart is what matters on this. Not the day in which we observe it.

Actually, no. God did not intend for us to rest on Sundays, specifically. As a matter of fact, the true Sabbath starts on Friday night at sundown and ends Saturday at sundown. But realistically, God just wants us to have a day of rest in our lives. If God, being all powerful, all knowing, etc took a day of rest, how much more do you think we need it? It honestly doesn't matter much when you do it, just that you give yourself time to rest.

God doesn't mind Sunday trading as long as he gets his share of the 2-4-1 coupons.

Saturday was the original day of rest and that's why Jews go to temple on Saturday. Christians changed the day of rest to Sunday in celebration of the Resurrection. Christ rose from the dead on Sunday so Christians chose that day to rest and reflect on Him.

I believe Saturday was the Jewish day of rest, the Sabbath was a law to make sure the Jews, who worked hard, took a day off to 'touch base' with God, get some rest and prayer time....it was never meant to become a thing to be argued over! Jesus came to get rid of legalistic attitudes. God doesn't mind how or when you spend your quiet time, just be sure that you understand the principle of the sabbath and spend time with God.

That was based on the Law, and apparently based on other peoples' interpretation, Saturday is the day of rest in some religions. But the Law is no longer in effect since Jesus was the "fufillment of the Law" as the Scriptures say, so we are exempt from having to have that day as a Sabbath or whatever, because Christians are followers of the example, that is, Jesus Christ.
