My fiancee and I are getting married next June. The reception is being held about 300 feet from the chapel. We're expecting all of the guests to walk, but she doesn't really want to hitch up her wedding dress and walk the 300 feet, and it's too short for something like a car or carriage or hansome cab.

We were thinking of something fun, like a Segway or a little Vespa or something. However, we're also trying to stay within a modest price range (few hundred $$). Any suggestions?

Depending on how fun/useful it is, we might also use it to get the 1.2 miles from the reception to our hotel room (the wedding is at a hotel)

Check out golf carts. They would be so cute and funny decorated up with cans and a just married sign. Oh, and pretty cheap to rent.

I respect her wishes, but you could always do it the Italian (I think it's Italian) way by leading a procession of guests. Put her bustle on, and it shouldn't be as big of a deal. 300 feet really isn't that far to walk. IF you want, you could carry her.

A Segway I think would be even hard to control with a dress like that. I mean, if she's not wanting to walk 300 feet because she doesn't want to lift her dress up, how will it be different to hike it up for a Segway?

My opinion--just walk it. Save the money and walk.

Something you might want to consider to keep the dress clean and save money would be to make an aisle runner from the church to the reception. What you would want to do is take black or white heavy plastic and tack in in the ground (to keep the fabric dry. Then you can either layer it with toule and/or fabric with rose peddles and votives. It would be beautiful, and if you lead the way her dress will remain perfect!

A vespa or segway will get grease on her dress. If you're on a budget, why not just tell her to suck it up and walk? It isn't far, and it will cause the least damage (like wrinkling) to her dress.

how about a pedi-cab?
look into renting a vespa or mo-ped for the day.
check craigslist.com and post your need for the rental of say $150 for one hour of use. you never know what you can find.
how about an old fashioned bicycle for two. that could be cute as well.

good luck :D

What about a rikshaw....You could have the groom or groomsmen pull her in it over the reception place.
The only thing is, I have no idea where you would find one to buy or rent?

I wonder if you check around costume store and prop places if you could find one of those chairs that they use to carry a queen in?? That would be soo cute and you could have all the grooms men carry her over to the receipt ion like a queen!!
