For instance, I went to medical school and had faith all throughout that I would eventually become a doctor, and sure enough I did. Having faith in that got me through the difficult times in school.

I had faith that I could figure out how to solve a family crisis even when i had no idea how to do it. Eventually, because I believed very seriously that I would eventually be able to figure it out, the answer came to me and the problem was resolved.

What about you?

(the purpose of the question is to identify that faith, whether in a religious context or not, is a very powerful tool that all should use).

I like your examples, and I absolutely agree that faith is a true principle with our without religion.

I personally think we'd all be nuts without faith. I mean we need faith to get on the road that we can get home safe, we need faith that the buildings we are in are structurally sound enough not to crumple on our heads, we need faith that people can be trusted. If we didn't have this every-day faith, we'd all be suffering from deabillitating paranoia.

I have a problem with the non-religious folks that try to mock faith as if were something they themselves didn't rely upon every day to function like a normal human being.

Best wishes

There's faith as the world sees it, and then there is Biblical faith.

The world's faith relies on our control and what has already been proven. For instance, a pilot's ability to fly a plane, the engineers knowledge that built it, and physics that allows it to fly. As a passenger, we get on a plane in faith that we are going to arrive at our destination safely because it has a proven track record.

Family crisis' are nothing new. Most every family has one and knows what it's going to take to get through one, because every individual, by experience has been through some sort of crisis. The human spirit is resilient. Your attitude in any situation makes all the difference.

But Biblical faith is different; no matter how resilient and strong you may be as an individual, you learn that you don't have control and life can change on a dime despite your past experience, science, abilities, knowledge, wisdom, etc. Biblical faith moves mountains, parts a sea, raises the dead, heals disease, provides a way out when there isn't one possible and more than we can imagine.

Yes, it is a powerful tool, but it is also a gift, and not everyone can experience it, because they want to be confident in themselves.

I remember a couple of years ago I was at the DMV and I had a single thought which was....it would have to be Gods will for me to pass this test( I wasn't a good driver) and I left it alone. I prayed about it and let it rest. I had faith that If it were meant, if it were his will then it would surely come to pass. I've also prayed about things and had very little faith, because I knew that I wasn't ready for what I was praying for or whatever.

I just moved to a new city about 8mo ago and me moving here was me stepping out on faith. And its been nothing but a blessing since then. There have been so many doors opening up for me like w/my dream job that I'd plan on pursuing after college....nope God had another plan....he got my foot in the door w/o my degree. God is real and he is the bomb. My parents abandoned me at the age of 6 and God has been a great mother and father whenever I let him.

Good point Seraphim...I was going to mention that too. Also when you step into the shower in the morning your not thinkn "IS IT POISON OR H20".

I have faith every time I open a soda that it doesn't end up tasting like floor polish (... long story, needless to say, I don't drink Pepsi anymore).

I have faith that every time I get in the car, I get to my destination and back safely. And if things aren't looking good, a hearty "God, help me!" kind of faith takes over, and that works far better than the passive kind in such situations.

I have faith that each morning I will wake up. So far, my faith hasn't let me down yet.

First off there is no real faith without God He is the atuhor of faith. Now mind me I'm not talking about man-made religon I'm talking about true relationship with a living god who teaches me to walk out my faith in him everyday. See religon is manmade and set boundries out of ignorance and self want but true relationship with the creator boundries are set out of love and for yor growth but when you have true relationship withn the creator you really don't see boundries as boundries because you know the real truth and it has set you free from the bondage of boundries. I see faith at work everyday in my life it is a contiual thing.

i'm very targeted on my church (I artwork with the church song), and that i'd be marrying a non-Christian. we've been mutually for years, and our religious variations are fairly a lot a non-situation. We appreciate one yet another's precise to pursue separate religious guidelines. And surely, there are countless commonalities between our beliefs, as well as variations.

Faith in life is very important but you can't have Faith without being spiritual or having religion. It was God that helped you get thru medical school and it was God that helped you to solve your family problem but it took that Faith that you had inorder for it to work. A mustard seed of Faith can move mountains and without Faith your work here on earth is dead. Your situation worked out because of God because HE is always there guiding us and helping us thru whatever we go thru in life. So, keep up the Faith and know that God is always in control. We can't do anything without God and that is where my Faith is grounded in God because I know that I can't do anything without HIM not ever get up in the morning or ever breath.

All my faith is on God. I had faith that I would be able to get my research report done in time. But I didn't have faith in myself, I had faith that God would help me to prioritize and give me strength to sometimes stay up half the night working. All my faith is in God's strength, not my own.

That I could launch my hang glider off a 2,500 foot mountain for the first time and not die. Faith in myself, my abilities, and my instructors. Very empowering, seeing as how I didn't die.
