Skeletons is a metaphor for something you may have done or something that may have happened in a family that no one is particularly proud of, therefore they remain unspoken of and become secrets, lies by omition.
This is why gay people say they have come out of the closet, it is nothing a family is proud of to have gay people in their family has been that way for ages, maybe this is why gays now are so fervent about their sexual preferences and don't care who knows, personally I believe your sexual preference is just that yours, and shouldn't be pushed on others like gay pride parades.
what is that all about, you don't have heterosexual pride parades never have, that it because there is nothing wrong with the way we were meant to be.

Skeletons in your closet refers to things in your past/present that you wouldn't want others to know about....dirty little secrets.
A lot of people have skeletons in their closets. Some have whole cemetaries. LOL!

When you are in a relationship where you are trying to be the best person you can be.Then something from your past that you are not proud of(like the time you were at that party and took your cloths off) that would be the skeleton.Then the person who wants your partener decides it would be good to tell them.That would be the closet
