A lot of the time Wellbutrin is used for quitting smoking as well as it's anti-depressant effects. It has a side effect of weight gain and possibly some lightheadedness.
Add a little more exercise to your daily routine to counter the bad side-effect of weight gain.

He'd probably switch the first med instead, to something that's less likely to cause weight gain. Most prescription weight loss drugs have very serious side effects, so serious that it's safer to carry around the extra weight rather than take the drugs.

Psych meds act different for everyone.My mom got underweight on Prozac in the 90s and now it doesn't do that to her anymore.My brother and 14 yr old became homicidal on Prozac.The worst meds for weight gain are the mood stabilizers, Depakote,Depokine those are "Valporic acids" and there is more than those 2 that are.I was on Welbutrin for 5 days and I had uncontrollable crying,A friend of mine had the same thing happen to her.Its trial and error.

I have been taking Wellbutrin XL for three weeks now and have noticed an increase in energy. Wellbutrin is supposed to have the lowest occurence of weight gain. I took Celexa for over a year and gained about 15 lbs. Of course all I wanted to do when I was on Celexa was sleep!

Doctors will tell you that you do not gain weight on antidepressants but you do!
I gained 40 pounds on effexor. And most recently have gained 15 (so far) on paxil.

Any weight gain is as a result of eating too much and not the fault of the medication. I don't believe either medication is resposible for a gain of weight. I take wellbutrin and if I have gained weight it is because of my eating habits and lack of exercise.
