Surely her loving me back should be one of the main things i look for, but i am in love with a girl who only loves me as a friend. Why? I know I cant help how I feel, but I would like to understand why I feel it.

Hey, your not the only one that happens to. The good thing about being a guy is that you can pursue her without looking cheap. Guys can try to make a girl fall for them but a girl who does that just looks desperate. I have had boyfriends who made me fall in love with them by sheer pursuit and show of sincerity.
Don't hound her though, that is just stalking. Let her miss you once in a while

Because you see a friend that always has occupied a special place in your heart, and eventually she starts to grow in your feelings as the person you can love.
Sadly, if she does not love you back, you can try to get her to love you, but don't push to much, because you can loose the friend and be left with nothing.
Maybe it could be a good idea to tell her how you feel and let her know that she will be always special for you.

Show her or tell her that you dont like her just as a friend. Go to the movies, talk, be very friendly to her, smile at her and talk allot. Soon you'll see. She'll answer back. It happens very often tht the girl or guy doesnt feel the same but trust me. Do what I said.

it just happens that way. Find a way to get used to it and move on. Best way to get over it is to fall for someone else.
