I believe a real prophet is a real psychic. The question is who or what is the prophet or psychic hearing from.
There are many spirits out there. That is a reality. There is God and the Kingdom of God. There is Satan and his kingdom.
Biblical prophets were tested to see if they were hearing from the LORD God. God knew the truth and if God revealed something to a true Godly prophet, that Word would be found true and be called the Word of God.
The whole (all books) Holy Bible Is tested and found to be the true Word of God.
A false prophet would be found incorrect half the time because the spirit was a lieing spirit. Psychics are ones who supposedly connect with the spiritual realm or the dead. In the bible it is written to test the prophets. Do they lead you to go to some other spiritual than the LORD God? Then if they do, they are actually a false prophet. The spirits they seek lie half the time also. They are tempting people to go to a different spiritual than the LORD God.
Test the spirits. Do they deny the Father and the Son? Do they deny Jesus Christ is LORD? Do they tempt you away from God.
The first commandment is to love the LORD thy God with all your heart mind soul & strength. This fullfills the first commandments of the 10 commandments.

There are a lot of prophets through history that were philosophical and wrote or taught their message. Being psychic is an other aspect of humanity. Anyone can go to that level of sensitivity. A psychic calls on inner consciousness to form their demonstration.
And this thread has shown such an utter lack of knowledge on the subject of Prophets as well as Psychics. Does religion stop the thought process so thoroughly as to be so wrong?
To prophesy is a phenomena of being psychic. To be a prophet is to know God and to share the message.

A prophet is submitted to the will of God, well, at least in the message he brings in the name of the Lord. If a prophet gives a false prophecy, meaning he gives a prediction and it doesn't come about when and how he said it would, God commanded they the people kill him for mis-representing God. That's a pretty harsh standard, don't ya' think?
A psychic is either deceived by demons, or is in league with demons to accomplish a counterfeit prophecy. They can be false psychics too, just scamming people for whatever money they can get out of them. There doesn't seem to be any real consequence for faking it unless they stay in one place too long. Then the person who took their predictions to their own hurt want to do them harm personally unless they're too ashamed to admit they were foolish enough to follow their advice.
The amount of detail and level of accuracy of the prophets can be found in the list of prophecies made about the coming of Christ as much as 400 years in advance. Well worth looking into if you want to know which one is trustworthy.

A Prophet claims knowledge coming from a "supposedly" higher source.
A Psychic claim's knowledge coming from the untapped ability of the human mind.
There is just as much fraud among both groups, the main difference being the ones who "follow" them.

A true prophet is always right. A prophet would usually claim to have a straight-from-god statement, and wouldn't be answering your questions--he/she would be telling you what God wants you to know.
Psychics make their best guess and are often right, but are using guides that vary by their craft, combined with their own logic and intuition, so they are fallible. Psychics would also speak on almost any topics you request, while a prophet would dodge any question to which he does not have an answer from God.

A prophet was born with the answers of the past and future. A Psychic has someone from the other side giving them info to relay.

A real prophet is someone who is called of God to be His messenger, (this doesn't always involved predicting the future-BTW).
I can see how there is confusion when there are psychics out there claiming to be prophets.
