You mean the Army Air Corps. The Air Force didn't exist as a separate branch until after the National Security Act of 1947.

On the one hand, I shouldn't answer here because I don't know the answer to your question. Just something I did run into, though....

My father was a WWII vet, and I tried finding out information about his engagement and couldn't find much of anything other than general stuff. I learned that things like the ship's rosters were destroyed upon the return of the soldiers. Maybe what you're looking for is different than what I tried looking for....

You need to get a copy of his DD214. That will show his complete tour, any medals he received, medical condition at time of discharge, etc. Oh and by the way, the Air force was not established until 1947, so your dad was in the Army Air corp.

Ask the VA, your fathers records are stored on microfiche . You may need to get your father or mother to ask for this info . The VA will know for sure or your local VFW or American legion clubs will definitely know. Good luck in your search!

do an internet search for milatery service records. There are a few sites with links to military agencies which can provide this info.

not sure if they had them back then, but what you are looking for is his DD-214.
