Yes it is possible to convert to Judaism however most Orthodox Rabbis will do their utmost to dissuade you. Judaism is a very serious religion that requires alot of commitment AND devotion. Jewish men wake up early every day to pray in synagogue and most Jewish men pray in synagogue morning evening and night. There are many intricate laws and customs and it takes a concerted effort to understand any of it. Unless you are ready for a very major change in your life dont bother. Additionally if you are considering taking the "easy" way out and becoming Reform or Conservative you are being foolish. They are not really considered Jews by the Orthodox because the Jewish religion is by the "book" and anyone who attempts to change that is going against God so to speak because He commanded the Jews to keep the entire Torah the way it was given on Mt. Sinai without any alterations. Furthermore there is alot of anti-semitism in the world and it can be very unpleasant. Think long and hard before you take such a major step.

Oy vey! Jewism? It's Judaism, dude. Yes, you can convert from any religion (or no religion) to Judaism. First, you set up an appointment to meet with a local rabbi. Don't feel upset or hurt if he doesn't show up. By Jewish Law and tradition, rabbis are supposed to do everything they can to prevent you from converting. Traditionally, they'll be late for the appointment or not show up three times. If you're there again, they'll know you're sincere about wanting to be Jewish. Then, under the rabbi's guidance, you'll study Jewish beliefs, laws, and customs. After a few months, you'll go before a court (group) of rabbis. You'll be "quizzed", in a sense, on how much you know on the laws, customs and beliefs of Judaism. If they feel you know enough to be Jewish, they will declare you to be Jewish. If you're uncircumcised, rabbis will either ask you to be circumcised through a medical procedure, or a mohel will take a pin-prick (no pun) of blood from the head of your penis. You'll also enter a mikveh, which is a Jewish purification bath. Then you'll be fully Jewish.

It's actually very easy to convert ot Judaism. First, you have to learn about the faith and the history. You will need to convince a group of rabbis that you are making the conversion with full knowledge and untroubled heart.

Second, you will undergo a ritual cleansing in a mikvah (a largish pool).

Third, if you are male, you will need a circumcision, emblematic of the convenant between God and Abraham. If you've already been cut, then there is a symbolic pin prick.

And that's it! Bagels and Brisket to follow!

Actually, did you know that scholars think that as many as 10% of the Roman Empire were Jewish? Back in the 1st and 2nd centuries BCE, the Jewish faith was immensely popular, and many people converted to Judaism all over the Western world. The idea of one God made so much more sense to people than the idea of many fickle gods.

What happened? Christianity said, we can offer the "One God Experience" without the circumcision! So that won the day. But Judaism still welcomes converts to this ancient and frankly very modern faith!

Yes you can convert to Judaism (not Jewism). I'd get the lingo down straight before making such a commitment. Contact a Rabbi for more information.

Yes and it is Judaism. The procedure usually takes about a year during which the person becomes familiar with the teachings of Judaism and demonstrates a sincere desire to convert. After that process is finished the person would go to a Mikvah and then get a Hebrew name.

Yes...just like Sammy Davis Junior....however, better get some education on the subject and stop calling it "Jewism".....

You will have to study...then go see a Rabi and discuss the particulars.

If you mean Judaism, yes, it is indeed very possible. Just go to the Rabbi of the local synagogue or yeshiva, and they will help discuss with you if this is indeed what you wish to do, and there are many different groups within Judaism. (Orthodox, Reform, and so on.)

Some may not allow you to convert. I think your best option is to go and talk through things with the local rabbi.

Converting to another religion is a very serious business.

Yes, but traditionally Judaism has not been very big on proselytizing since the Jewish people are a distinct ethnic group whom God has chosen and given this religion. In the Old Testament of the Holy Bible conversion is also allowed so long as one submits to the Law and the Lord Jehovah. One of the people listed in the lineage of the Messiah Jesus Christ, is Ruth, who happens to be a convert to Judaism and is the name given to one of the most loved books of the Bible. Indeed, as a Christian, when I accept Jesus as Savior I become a joint heir with Him to the promise to Abraham and become as an adopted son. So it can be argued that all Christians grafted into the Savior's vine are also Jewish as adopted brothers spiritually speaking.

I would think it's pretty hard to convert to "Jewism" because it doesn't exist.

But yes, you can convert to Judaism.
