You don't have time. You need to realize you left this until 0 hour, and neither the court nor the DA's office is going to give your letter priority. The judge probably already has your file to review and the letter wouldn't catch up with the file anyway. I know, I worked for the court for years. It is doubtful whether it would fly anyway.

You need to make sure your mother has some help. If she is not fit care for herself, you need to contact Adult Protective Services so they can arrange care for her. They can arrange for a care giver or make other accomodations. You need to make sure that your mom is taken care of ASAP. You obviously only have today, so I recommend you make the most of the few business hours that remain today. Web site for LA County APS is http://dcss.co.la.ca.us/APS/APStxt.htm Please call them.

At the risk of sounding harsh, you don't time for a letter to the DA or Judge. If they have already given you a stay they are not inclined to give you another particularly two days before your report date. You must of had a public defender. They or what ever attorney handled your case would be the only people that could get this done for you. I don't think that the judge will take a call from you but they may from your attorney. If all else fails get in touch with an organization called "Friends Outside" in the area where you mother lives. They have a great organization for helping family members of inmates. What ever you do, do not fail to show up. That will catch up with you and very likely increase your prison time.

uggh... i am not sure about california(i only assume this cause u said Victorville), but if its anything like illinois, obviously you have one day to do this.... it does not matter what YOU write... the courts love hearing what good deeds you have done from other people, especially ones that are looked highly upon.. for instance, if u go to church, your preacher or pastor needs to write a letter demonstrating your good moral character... any extracurricular activites... like maybe red cross, american legion, freemason society, or even politicians themselves... you need good letters and you have 24 hours to get them all rounded up... this would be your only chance and i daresay not too strong a chance, but better than you yourself begging and pleading on your knees. Judges are elected officials and especially the state of california performing a successful recall on the highest state position available (governor), people are power in that state and im sure your judge and the states attorney, both are elected positions, im sure they both know that... good luck and GET BUSY!!!!!

Letters remain hugely important in our everyday lives. People still feel the need to hv something confirmed in writing. Below are some top tips for getting u letter right.
Before u begin writing a letter ask yourself.
Why I am writing this letter or what has led up to it?
What do I hope to get out of it ( my maximum aims ) ?
What do u expect to get out of it ( my realistic aims ) ?
What is the best way to achieve this?

Sounds like you are going to have to do your time.

Maybe get a power of attorney for your mother and see if that person can help you commute your sentence if you are a reformed drug offender who NO LONGER breaks the law.

Isn't it a little late to be writing this letter now?
