I stopped taking the contraceptive pill on the 18th June at the end of a pack, so had a period . I then had another period at the end of July and was due another one on Sunday 27th Aug. However, this period has still not arrived, despite having all the symptoms, sore breasts etc.. at one point it felt like it was about to start any minute but it didn't. I took a pregnancy test on the date it was due but it was negative. Is this quite common when stopping the pill & has ne1 else experienced this?

Yes this is common. The birth control pill puts hormones in your body that regulates your period and keeps you from ovulating so you don't become pregnant (98% effective). However, when you stop taking the pill your body has to adjust and return to it's normal cycle. It may take months for your body to release all the excess hormones. Some women go back to regular cycles the next month and some women may take a year (rare but does happen). It all depends on how long you were taking the pill and how your body responds. I have been off the pill for a few weeks but I don't have any signs of my period yet. It is normal. If you are really concerned you should consult a doctor.

Yes. Getting off the pill can temporarily offset the dates.

Take another pregnancy test--sometimes the test is erroneous. Good luck!
