When I read this question I just wanted to say "Ahhhhhhhhh!"
I'm sorry I don't know the answer, but I think it's great that you want to rescue a chihuahua.
I had a chihuahua as a pet when I was a child and she was great.
You could try asking the RSPCA? Or look through a dog magazine (if there are any) and see if there are any kennels that breed them, who might know.
Or ask a vet?

They have advertised various rescue dogs of all sorts of breeds up and down the country. They also have a forum you can use to either chat, ask questions (eg about training or behaviour) or whatever.
If you don't see a dog that's suitable for you, you can post your own details down, what your circumstances are, what type of dog you're after, that sort of thing. Then hopefully if someone feels they have the dog for you, they can let you know via the website.
