Push zero until you get somebody - i've had success with that about 99% of the time. It is very frustarted to go thru the whole automated system. It is not user friendly at all!

VERY! I got a new card from Sears once that was now a "visa" and I wanted to see what the interest rate would be since the letter that it came with made no mention on it. I went through almost every "number" for over 1/2 hour trying to get a "live" person on the phone! I even tried the "0" which usually transfers you ta an oporator at least but that didn't even work! I never did activate that card.
And even if you did get a live person it's someone from India talking over an internet connection that you can hardly understand

YES! I miss the olden days when you talked to some one on the phone instesd of a recording. The new system is impersonable and it stinks most of the time. It may save the companies money but it is time consuming for their customers. I refuse to deal with attomated phone callers at all. Glad to know I,m not alone in this gripe.

If the company you are attempting to reach has a Sales department, choose the extension for "sales". Most companies wont allow prospective new customers to hold for extended periods (that gives a bad 1st impression).
Also, try the "Spanish" extension. Call volumes are a little lower for Spanish speaking customers. The representative that answers will be bilingual anyways. Works for me every time!!

I actually prefer these automated systems as they are usually more competent and concise than the humans who answer the phone. Besides, if you get frustrated, "0" usually takes you to the operator.

What's worse is the automated voice stuff with the fake robot people. Give me a button to push any day over that nonsense.

I know I do. I can't stand it when i really need assistance and I have to sit on the phone and let a computer give me the run around and when I get off the phone I still have the same problem.

I hate that also, plus you used to be able to just press zero, or act like you didn't have a touch tone phone and be transferred to a person, but now many businesses force you to press a number or just disconnect you.
