Because many people who are safe at home with mummy and daddy in safesville U.S.A have never seen the results of terrorism, and think that it will never affect them.
One day however a loved one of theirs will be sitting on an aircraft or a bus or a subway train and a nutcase with a "cause" will blow them into chopped liver just because they were there.
Lets see how liberal they are at that point.
Having said that they will probably then say it had something to do with Bush or Iraq.......just like the poor Balinese people who were blown up in the Bali bombs, or the Nigerian woman and the 5 muslims blown up on the London trains, or maybe the 35 different nationalities blown up on 9/11, 2 years before Iraq....

The goal of reducing terrorism is good. The means currently being used are foolish, wasteful, and counter-productive.
Why is it so difficult for people to distinguish the goals from a particular methods of achieving those goals?
Throwing a cat in the furnace is a sure way of killing all the fleas on it. But it defeats the real purpose, and is not good for the cat.
Destroying a country, killing hundreds of thousands of people in Iraq isn't fighting against terrorism -- it's just making more people hate the US, and tying up our own military forces in the process. Which defeats the ultimate goal, which is to keep our country strong.
Of course, we want to reduce terrorism. But there have always been terrorists and there always will be. The more we waste American lives fighting in the middle of a civil war, the more we stir up hatred against the US, and the more we alienate our own people through partisan bickering, the weaker and more vulnerable we are.
That doesn't help us. The goal is fine. We just need better means.

They prefer fantasy to reality. Alas, reality is here, the terrorists of Islam are here and engaged, they are not going away.
No tyrannical leader or ideology has ever gone away.... they have to be exterminated or driven away in a manner that leaves them no option but to stay away.
For terrorists, extermination is the only viable answer..... Islamo-fascists, like communists, believe lying and breaking treaties are OK and perfectly legitimate if it furthers their agenda.
If they lose someone close, they will put the blame on the government. They believe that their government is supposed to take care of them, think for them, treat them well, and caress their "feel good". What is not realized by the sheep is: politicians are out to caress their own "feel good", the citizens come in second or less in the picture.
As socialism continues to permeate our society and it becomes more acceptable, individuals retain less and less importance..... UNLESS that individual is you... then the individual means a great deal to that individual, but not to the rest of society.
Socialism and communism talk a good line, but they do not deliver on the promises. Those two forms of government feed off the citizens while giving very little in return.

Well sidetrack, since you brought up following the flock, let me ask you; Is the war in Iraq the same thing as the war on terrorism? Is spying on phone calls/ emails of US citizens part of the war on terrorism? Is torturing people and holding them for more than four years without charges part of the war on terrorism?

OOPS ! What's this ?
U.S. troops in IRAQ to the west , NATO in Afganistan to the east ,
the U.S. fleet to the south.
Do they really want to start a war ?

Sidetrack, you've got to realize that a lot of muslim sympathizers are on this site along with normal folks. These fanatics will say and do anything to confuse, agitate, anger, demoralize and mis-inform others on this site. Stick to your guns, and learn to realize and recognize what and who they are,
Usually they are easy to recognize because of their poor command of the English language, or their inability to spell even simple words. Remember, these are not brain surgeons we're dealing with, for the most part, they're ignorant camel drivers who have finally found a real cause for which to die.
For those people who are simply pathetically liberal, well to them I say; " stupid people shouldn't be allowed to breath!"

The war on terrorism is not wrong, but the foolish way it is being waged is. It should be more covert, and not involve invading sovereign nations who had nothing to do with it, nor provoked us into the attack on their soil. Afghanistan was justified, Iraq was not.

Few people oppose the war on terror, but considering that Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden were based in Afghanistan, our current war in Iraq has nothing to do with terrorism, and that is what most people oppose.

They don't oppose the war on terrorist, but they hate the president and the republicans in charge so much they want to claim he is losing, doing it wrong, and that they can do so much better capitulating to the enemy....
