I am expecting my 2nd child in late Jan. We are trying to decied weather or not to get a double stroller or not. Our son is 3 years old. Should we get a double stroller or should I just get a stroller with a carseat. His car seat & stroller is 3 years old and the stroller is falling apart!

I have a 3-year-old and a 21-month-old. Since they are only 17 months apart, we bought a double stroller. (And actually, I bought the double stroller when my older daughter was just 9 months old, and I was babysitting a 2-month-old.)

Since your kids will be more than 3 years apart, I wouldn't mess with a double stroller. My 3-year-old still rides some, but she walks quite a bit, too. I also carry my younger daughter on my back in a sling quite a bit if we're going for a long walk, which frees up the single stroller for my 3-year-old, and I don't even need to use the double stroller.

I'd recommend just getting a single stroller and then maybe getting the new baby used to riding in a sling or other carrier so that your 3-year-old can ride if he needs to.

I've never used one, but you could also look at the sit-and-stand strollers where the older child can stand on a little platform on the back of the regular stroller. I think you can even get an attachment that fits onto your normal single stroller.

Congrats on the new baby!

We got a double stroller & have used it maybe only twice!

Our 3 almost 4 year old now just grew right out of that thing!!!
She wont fit in the front or the back now!!!

I suggest one of those strollers that have the seat for an older child or the one where the older child can stand up!!!

I wish we would have done that instead of wasting our money!!!

Good Luck with the new baby!!!

I had a newborn and a 3 1/2 year old. At first everytime the baby was in the stroller she would try to get in. Now she likes to help push! If we go on a big outing we have rented the double stroller like at the zoo. We had decided we wanted her to be able to walk and learn how to stay with us. It has worked very well. Good Luck

I doubt a double stroller would be worth buying.

My kids are each 3 and a half years apart and once the next baby was well on its way, the older child was booted from the stroller. I made sure to do this for a few months before baby actually got here so hat way it wasn't blamed on the baby directly.

It's not so bad letting them walk if you teach them from the start that they need to hold your hand or something when you're out and about.... at least until they're old enough to use common sense and stick close to you.

Depending on where we are going my 6yr old still climbs in a stroller. I have a double stroller, but I hate it. Its big and heavy, its not simple and easy to use. So I have 2 nice strollers, that cost about the same as the double. They fold down enough to fit them both in the trunk, (the double was to big for my trunk). I all depends on what you want to do.

I haven't used a stroller with my 4 year old since she was 3. Nothing wrong with a kid getting excercise by walking. Its also a good time to teach them to walk with you instead of wandering off.

It depends really i have a 2 and a 3 year old i use it more for the 2 year old but if we are going some where far then my 3 year old will sit in it if she gets tired otherwise she hates it and wont sit in it. If your son is 3 then by the time your second is born he may not want to sit in it so a single might be better, Plus its good to get them walking earlie.
good luck with the preg,

That is a tough one. Maybe get the carseat/stroller combo and one of those little tag-along boards for the older kid. Sometimes they get tired and it's impossible to carry one and push the other. I haven't seen a kid yet that doesn't like using one of these:

A friend got this stroller when her 2nd kid was born ... Toddler kid loves it ... There is a stroller (website below) that a toddler can sit down facing you while you push ...

Hope this helps ...
