Why was CSI left out of the Emmy nominations?

Because the Emmys rarely have any connection with reality (but then, neither does TV...). You have to realize: the Emmys are mostly an industry popularity contest combined with reward for success. (Remember how your class officers got picked in school? Or the homecoming king & queen? Like that.) Which meant a lot of people kept getting awards even though they clearly weren't the Best, and a lot of good shows didn't get nominated because they didn't get big ratings. But it also meant that good AND popular shows were pretty much guaranteed at least a nomination. The nominees were the top 5 in each category who got the most votes among the entire Academy membership, and then everybody voted again to pick the winner.

This year, however, the TV Academy decided to change the rules, supposedly to give others a chance. So the first list was the top 10 to 15 who got the most votes from the membership--and then that list was given to a special panel of judges, who themselves picked the 5 nominees. (Based, get this, on ONE episode of each show.) So CSI may have been on the first list, but the judges knocked it off when they picked the final nominees. (Same reason "Lost", which won last year, wasn't even nominated.)

Anyway, bottom line is, nobody's any happier with the new system, so they'll probably change it again. But all TV-land really cares about is ratings, so as long as lots of people are watching CSI, it's not going anywhere...

We need as CSI to figure out why some of the shows nominated are even on!!! Are they from some made up network land? I never heard of some of them.

I don't like it much but I watch little tv. They have to narrow it down to a few candidates so some one has to loose.
