I want to teach in Australia in the early childhood field. How do I go about doing that? Where can I find information about careers especially in the field of childhood education?

You don't state whether you are qualified or not? If you are you would need to check with the Education Department of the state you are looking to live in, to see whether your qualification is accepted or not... you may be required to do further components to make up to the qualification. If they are accepted you would need to get an application package to fill out to become registered as a teacher.

If you are not qualified, you would need to contact the Universities in the relevant state to find out what you need to do to be accepted into Early Childhood Teaching, which is a Bachelor of Education, which takes 4 years to complete.

Generally, the greater demand for teachers is in country locations, and this is where you will have the greater chance of securing a permanent full time position, and once you have done a couple of years in the country then you can apply to be transferred back to a city school. (You may get lucky straight off in the city though).

Alternatively you can also enter into the child care industry with an Early Childhood qualification. Although pay and working conditions are not as good as through an education department.

To scope the jobs that are available go to www.careerone.com.au and search for the state/city you are interested in to find out whats on offer.

Good luck.
