Seems I've tried a hundred ways to hard boil an egg but they almost always smell :( We like making a dozen at a time but don't want the fridge to reek. Any hints?
We usually place a dozen eggs in cold water with an inch or so extra. Bring it to a boil and turn it down to simmer. 30 minutes from start to finish and into the cold water then to the fridge. They are consumed within two days but in the mean time........
Cook faster? Slower? I'm lost.

The problemis your are cooking them way too long. Best way to cook is as follows:

place your eggs in a pot. fill pot with COLD water enough to cover the tops of the eggs. Put on stove top on high heat and bring water to boil. (You have to stay and watch.) When water comes to a boil, turn off the stove, and cover with a lid. Let sit for ten min. and you will have perfectly cooked eggs, without the funky smell. If you are going to put them in the fridge do not put them in water. just store them in the shell until ready to use.

The problem is that eggs naturally contain sulfur, which is that rotten egg smell. However, I don't know if there's any way to create a sulfide compound without ruining the eggs, sorry.
