Honey I suckled the kids? If so what did you think of attachment parenting, I found myself ranting at the TV at their naivety.

Well I'd hardly call it child abuse, after all the World Health Organisation recommends breast feeding till the age of 2 and the world wide average is aged 4. Misguided maybe.

No their argument didn't convince me iether, I think they are setting their kids up for a fall when they reach adulthood for the sake of some nice ideals, and the business about giving birth at home with no medical intervention is insane. If I had taken that route both myself and my daughter would now be dead.

I missed it actually. But there have been a few programmes like that recently. They want to encourage parents to breast feed and stuff but then they do shows like that which would surely put people off. I'm all for breastfeeding, I did 9 months with one and 4 months with the other. I know it's supposed to be natural upto age 7 or whatever it is but I don't think it's a good idea past around 18 months at the most. As for having your baby at home, tjat's all very well in theory but, even if your pregnancy has gone perfectly, doesn't mean the same for the birth. The hospital wanted to send me home when I was in labour with my second, then he was born not breathing and had the cord round his neck so if I had have had him at home, he most likely wouldn't be here.

The poop on the floor, that was horrendous.
I think homeschooling, when it is done right, can be brilliant; but I would be concerned that the child may not be getting enough interaction with other children. Learning how to form relationships with their peers would be vital in their adult life.
To continue breatfeeding after the age of 2 is ridiculous, especially as in the case of the woman on the programme because she was breastfeeding a 5 year old as well as a 2 year old child. If I were her I would have been worried when the 2 year old was newborn that it was receiving the right nutrients from her milk, because of the continued demand from her older child. Breastmilk changes to meet the needs of the child, but when there are two of different ages who knows whether either are getting what they need.

I just googled it, and it looks like the show was only on in the UK, so as I'm in the US, I didn't see it.

I read the description, though, and while I wouldn't want to go to the extremes that some of these families have, I do believe in many attachment parenting principles. I also don't think that they're harming their children in any way as long as they ensure that their children receive a good education (don't know enough about "unschooling" to comment on it) and are polite, contributing adult members of society some day.

Now, the poop on the floor is a different story. Even if mom uses EC, there's no reason she can't clean up a mess! I let my girls run around naked when they were potty training (which I think was very helpful for them), but I cleaned up any accidents from the floor. Ick!
