I wish to purchase a digital camera. I heard a lot about 'Canon powershot S2 IS', How is it?

It's not as good as their newer S3 IS.

The S3 IS is an excellent choice in digital cameras if you are looking for an 'ultra zoom' camera. Great for taking the kids' soccer games and such, or for bird watching. 432mm is quite a long telephoto.

It's a bit bigger than the compact ones- but it that's oK with you- then no problem.

The S3 IS also has some stiff competition. You could also look at the Panasonic FZ30, FZ50, FZ7. or the Sony H2, H6.

Then again, the new Fuji S9100/9600 is pretty cool as well. It doesn't have IS, but it does have a more pertinent 28mm wide angle, and higher ISO capability, and manual zoom.

Basically, if you are interested in digital photography and are still an amateur or medium-skilled; this one is perfect. It has a lot of manual controls and you can tweak it to your heart's desire. It's the 8th most popular camera for pics uploaded on Flickr, so it has to be good!

If your intention is a convinient family cam; go for a sleeker one as this is quite bulky to carry around.

Another thing, it shoots fabulous videos, better than a lot of cams out there!

S2 IS is the best in its category. Canon has released a new mode S3 IS which has a larger resolution and performs better under high ISO

I know about Canon power shot S31S.It is the lastest one by Canon.
Its features:

The most popular one by canon is Powershot A700.Its features:

I have sony DSC-W70.Its a very popular and consumer favourite. I did a lot of research before buying a digi-cam. I would suggest you to buy this. Its features:
sleek,compact design,6.35 large LCD screen, 7 megapixel image resolution,3 x optical zoom lenses,6 x digital zoom,58 MB internal memory.Its price is Rs.19990.

All sony digi cams come with the feature carl zeiss vario tessar 3x zoom lens which offers high sensitivity against anti-blur.Canon digi cams doesnt offer this feature.

So friend ,take my word and buy Sony's DSC-W70.
