To look at least somewhat like a pro? A lot of time. Its not just about working out though you have to eat right, live right, take proper supplementation and so on. Firstly, as you mentioned, work out every day but as I assume you are a beginner, start out with compund exercises (look this up). These work more than one body part at once and will offer more gains more quickly. Examples of this are the bench press, deadlift, dips, squats, pressups and so on. The bread and butter of weightlifting and body building. Put together a routine of weight training doing different exercises each weekday and be sure to have the weekend off from heavy weight training to give yourself proper rest and growth time. Also do lots of cardio. Muscles wont show through fat and cardio burns bodyfat. Go running FIRST THING in the morning. As in, before you do anything else. Perhaps after a cup of black plain sugarfree coffee at the most. This way you will get your body used to burning fat as well as carbs because your body will have no carbs to run on first thing in the morning. Also go swimming, cycling, skipping, etc, etc. Also start eating better food more regularly. About six meals a day if you can manage it. The idea behind this is that you eat smaller meals more oftern (I.e split the standard 3 square up into 6). This speeds up your metabolism and helps you burn fat. In your meals eat the right stuff too. The timing of your meals plays a part in this. Things like rice and pasta (carb high foods) should only be eaten during the morning and daytime as these are high carb which will support your workouts but can turn to fat if you dont burn enough of them off at once. Make sure the contents of your meals is good too. Cut down on sugar, processed food additives, alcohol and so on. You will also need A LOT of protein to support maximum muscle gain. About 1 gram per pound of bodyweight per day. Good sources of this are tuna (pretty much the standard for protein foods), salmon, lean meats and poultry, nuts, and milk. You will also need lots of vegetables for nutrients too. Take a strong slow release multivitamin to support your system too. A lot of vitamins and minerals are of high importance to what you do as a bodybuilder. The B vitamins are essential for release of energy for starters. You can also get yourself a tub of protein shake powder (try a whey and casein blend to start with) and take a few shakes in a day to maintain protein levels. Also look after your joints. Make sure to loosen up by stretching before you start lifting and take glucosamine and cod liver oil to maintain joints. Form is especially important to beginners. You can hurt yourself permanently with bad form so make sure to get each and every movement right. Good luck.

Being a real body builder is a profession, which means you put in enough time for it to be a job. To do it right, it takes up all of your day. You have to focus on working out hard for hours, eating every couple of hours, and resting when not doing the other two. Most body builders even wake up every 3-4 hours during the night just to eat.

um...body builders get that way after YEARS AND YEARS of training!

And they do it about 5-6 hours a DAY!

Body building takes loads and loads of dedication and commitment!

You may need abit more than 1.5 hours...
and a good routine and workout program is also a must...
Not to mention eating right! (body builders eat differently to "normal" people...they have to constantly supply their bodies with fuel!)
A body builder eats 6-8 small meals a day, usually 2-3 hours apart from eachother!

Body building is essentially a lifestyle. A simple workout everyday isn't enough; you have to follow a strict regime when it comes to eating, exercising, and even sleeping. You have to divide up your time appropriately and you can't deviate even SLIGHTLY in anything you eat, or your exercises.

Point is: Being a body builder will take up all of your time.

Being a bodybuilder is not a matter of the time you spend working out, but rather a real way of life and a wish to challenge the limits of your one body.

1 and a half to 2 hours is not enough time to commit to bodybuilding. Bodybuilding is indeeda "job". If you have a fulltime job, you will definitely find yourself spending the remainder of your time lifting weights, doing cardio and the third most important matter of dieting. You will spend lots of time cooking and portioning your food.
