OK so the reason why I brought up this question is because my boyfriend is Christian.
And one day we got into a fight about religion and then he said: "all you catholic people are crazy..you believe in crazy sh!t" I was hurt. Because that's what i was brought up as.
But at the same time I didn't get it! Ididn't know what he meant. And he wouldn;t explain to me. I haven't been to church for about 7 years. I don;t know where i got this idea from but I though that catholics are christians.
Because I used to have friends who were christians and went to the catholic church i went to. gosh im confused. hahaha
I just want to set the record straight. It's hard for me to let go some things!

I don;t know how to explain my religion. that;s why i want to know the difference. I'm no relly big on religion. I hate hearing about preaching about it personally. I just want to know the differnce.
We were just talking about having kids and he wants to raise them christian. This subject rarely comes up in our house hold. probabably twice last year. so yeah im bringing up old crap!
To me I really don't care what religion my kids are.
My bf WAS born a buddist and honestly i dont care what religion my kids are because I don't want them to turn out like some christian people I know of, all cou cou. hahaha I don;t read the bibble.that's not my point.lol all wanted to know is the differnce. Here if you people need me to explain myself. geez. I'm an open person. I can seem to find a REAL HUMAN being to exaclty explain to me the difference. Let just put it this way....I don't now what catholic nor christian is. EWXPLAIN TO ME THE DIFFERENCE!!! im not trying to convert into anything.

Catholic's pray to mary and the Siants and Christians don't.
Catholic's church is a work out too, you have to be in shape to go their lol.
Oh and the Confessional thing, Christian's just ask God for forgiveness instead of confessing to a priest.
Christian's don't refer to our preachers as father because the Bible says to call no one father but God in heaven. That's part of the reason Jews call their preacher Rabbi which means Teacher.

I also am what you call Catholic as I was Baptised into that denominatin, I owe the Catholic church my salvation [if I am foruneate enough] however, as usual man has defiled the Catholic church- as they have other faiths, Your question "the difference" is none, a Catholic or any person from another denomination is a Christian by the fact they believe that it is only through Christ that you can know the father-best regards hassa.

Catholics are Christians, they just aren't Protestant.
Protestants broke off from the Catholic church for a number of reasons that can be most easily summed up as thinking that the Catholic church had lost the focus of Jesus because of the many man-made traditions.
If you want to know more, you'll need to ask a more specific question.

Catholicism is a part of Christianity
Catholics are Christian
484-519 AD : Acacian Schism, over Henoticon divides Eastern (Greek) and Western (Latin) churches
1054 AD : East-West Schism that split Chalcedonian Christianity into Eastern (Orthodox Christianity) and
Western (Roman Catholic) churches is formalized.
The Catholic Church is started.
It is Protestant Propoganda and smear campaigning to say that Catholics aren't Christian.
Sometimes when translating the names of the denomonations into languages that are newer to Christianity, the Protestants
will try to mislead (they can get away with it).
For example in Chinese "Protestantism" is misleadingly translated into
"Ji Du Jiao" (Christianity), and Protestant is translated into
"Ji Du Tu" (Christian). According to the translation, the other denominations aren't Christian. The protestants have taken sole ownership of the term "Christian".
The proper translation "Xin Jiao"(Protestantism) and
"Xin Jiao Tu" (Protestant) is vaguely mentioned and is virtually unknown. That's pretty sneaky.

The head of the Church in the Catholic Church is suppose to be the pope; of which it is claimed Peter was the first. He (the pope )decides what the church is to believe. In Biblical Christianity what matters is what the Bible says, and Jesus is suppose to be the Head of the church, its only foundation = 1 Corinthian 3:11 ).

In the real sense, Catholicism is under Christianity. Whichever book you scan, you would find Catholicism under it especially that Christianity is defined as an organization wherein its members believe in Christ. That is the least common denominator of all Christ-believing organizations.
But biblically, as they say, Catholicism is not under Christianity for Catholicism base their philosophy on what is said to be done by humans, while the protestants and the present-day so-called Christians base their philosophy mainly on the Bible.

Not much difference theologically. The Catholic church was thought to be corrupt so many people split from the church and formed thier own denominations. So while all Catholics are christian, not all Christians are Catholic.

I believe that some Catholics are Christian especial the ones that open up the bible and read it. My only problem with Catholics is the stressing about the saints and sacraments I think that stuff could be very dangerous and is very close to salvation through works instead of through faith and takes away from Jesus dying for our sins. Also, all that talk about pregatory and being able to go to heaven after you have done a certain amount of work towards your sin nonsense please show me this in the bible.

The Roman Catholic church is just one form of Christianity. So is the Baptist church, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian. Any church that worships Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior is a Christian church. There is some differences in the way they worship and the doctrine of their church, but their basic beliefs are the same.
