1. Check for spark. After checking to be sure all plug wires are securely on their respective plugs (it is important that the correct wire is on the correct plug, or it will throw your vehicle's timing all off) and the other end is still attached to your distributor/cdi box/ what have you, remove one plug. With the plug wire on the plug, hold the threaded part of the plug against the engine block and have someone else turn the engine over. Do you see spark at the end of the plug? If not, that may be a problem. If so, continue.
2. Check fuel. You have got gas, right? good. Now remove the air cleaner so you can see down the throttle body / carburetor. Have someone step on the gas pedal. Do you see or smell gas? If not,
check for damaged fuel line, fuel pump, or clogged fuel filter. If you do, continue.
3. Electronics. Usually its just a lot easier to take it to a mechanic at this point. Diagnostic machines aren't usually practical for the shade tree mechanic.

To be able to shed any light on this, more information is needed. When a car turns over but doesn't start, there can be many different causes...it could be fuel system related, electrical, or mechanical. Plugged fuel filter, bad or failing fuel pump, fouled injectors, bad or fouled plugs, wires, the list goes on.
My advice is to take it to someone knowledgeable about cars, preferably a mechanic, and have it checked out. Otherwise you will be just guessing, and potentially wwasting money on things that don't need fixed. It will be nearly impossible to give you an accurate idea without knowing more.

Whole bunch of things can cause no start - take it to a dealer for proper diagnostic - they will tell you what is wrong and will give you an estimate what it needs to fix, then you can decide what to do. It will still cost you less than guess-replacing all the parts.

those distributors on that engine had the worst time about getting wet. check that. in this situation a mechanic would first check for a broken timing belt then spark and then for fuel.

I don't thinks it's the alternator, I think it's the Distributor, if it's no good than chances are your engine turns but won't start. Try changing the distributor. Good Luck!

Could be one of 3 things spark fuel or air.. your getting air thats a given so determin if you have fuel pressure and spark go from there... or jus take it somwhere
