From another question:

"ok mr.evolution explain this people who believe evolution say we come from monkeys and fish etc. well then tell me why there's any fish or monkeys wouldnt they all turn into people? no because it's not true. then why would we have babies and reproduce? wouldnt the monkeys and fish have babies that turned into humans for us? no because ITS NOT TRUE!!!!! i'll pray for you! "

Clearly this person doesn't have the first clue what evolution posits, and proceded to declare that to the world.

Even *Creationists*: don't you ever get frustrated in people who say things like this?
Do you ever feel like they make your position look like it is based on a lack of education and scientific ignorance?

A creationist position is hard for a non-believer to understand.

Creationism is not based on scientific facts or theories, it is based on faith.

Faith is a powerful influence for humans who are unsure and ambiguous about their ancestors' beginnings.

However, that doesn't make Creationists unintelligent or ignorant. The smartest people I know are proponents of the biblical truth.

I think that you are getting hung up on the fact that the theory of evolution is just that: a theory. It cannot be proved absolutely.

Many creationists take comfort in the idea that there is a higher authority which watches over them, guides them and gives them an opportunity for everlasting life.

That concept is much more comforting than cold, hard facts presented by a scientist.

which way i believe is unimportant in answering this question.

YES its embarrassing when anyone person opens their mouth to speak for a group and out comes garbage. Its true this person is only spurred along by emotion and the lack of knowledge makes them look like an idiot. However there are those on both sides of the issue that make themselves look stupid and the group they represent. I for one hate it when someone speaks out of ignorance just to be heard and make a point that is not useful to anyone infact some cases harmful...

You have a GOOD point only speak when you know at least a little bit about you are speak about

I think that some people are simply ignorant. That does not however give us the right to judge them either way. The most we can do is help to inform them and should they accept that help so be it. Knowledge is a powerful thing. I am not religious in any way shape or form and I do believe in evolution but I don't see how judging anyone helps the world. Believe what you want, just don't force your views on others.

devlsadvoct, doyou believe that the basis for Christianity and Creationism is found by reading random posted responses on Yahoo Answers? It is what is it. People responding with varying levels of understanding and intelligence regarding any subject. Pick the subject. There are going to be those who can express themselves with some particular knowledge regarding the question and then others who are blatantly uninformed. I'm baffled that you even posed this question in the first place.

I'm sure to the real atheists... The ones who are honestly speculative and science minded, rather than just pent up and using atheism as a platform to hate god and Christianity from, because it somehow obviously twisted your balls during some time your life?

Rather than show all of your supposed infinite wisdom and foresight by just disbelieving Christianity in peace and harmony as you SHOULD!

To the real atheists... YOU look like the idiot. The Christians are generational and often brainwashed into a misunderstanding in most cases and have an excuse... Some people CHOSE to be ignorant!

Why do you care what Christians believe? Honestly... why?

Knowing that it is in their scripture to try and convert people... Why does that piss you off to such an offensive, insulting counter point that only makes you look ignorant and twice as bad as they are in the process? What point is that worth making even to the detriment of your own self respect and decorum?

Actually, I posted a request for ANY creationist to come and give a description of evolution a while back. I got two responses from people that actually knew what evolution was. And those two both admitted that "faith" was the only thing that made them creationists.

But suffice it to say, the rest of the responses by creationists were... how shall I say it... embarrassing to read?

Apparently not enough of them are embarrassed by it, or not embarrassed enough to try to change either their schools or their churches.

Then again, Pope Benedict XVI -- who has the education to know better -- just fired the Vatican's chief astronomer for writing a newspaper column saying intelligent design is bunk. If embarrassment were a real concern, that man would still have his job.

Why don't you ask the person that wrote that if they are embarrassed by it.

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but there are Christians who are capable of free thought and intelligent debate. Just as there are non-Christians who make asinine comments and statements.

My position and my faith are not dictated by that persons education. As for scientific ignorance.... my opinion is based on my knowledge of science and the Bible... they are not mutually exclusive.

Ok, so I belive in intelligent design. That does not mean that i dont believe that we are not in a constant state of evolution. I just dont believe we "evolved" from pretty much nothing.

There are hard core people on both sides of the fence who refuse to budge on how they think this world was formed, but the truth is the only people who really know are the ones who have passed on. I dont see why we need to argue about this subject. Let me believe that god created us and you can believe in evolution. Simple right?
