I think you would be very surprised to find out how many birds end up in the rescue shelters because they are purchased without the new owner having enough knowledge to care for them properly.
The process of trying to tame wild birds started many years before I was born and I'm not a young chick either. The truth of the matter is that we can't stop this from going on. They have an awful lot of breeders out there and because of that we will always have birds that have been born into captivity. I love the birds that I have and they are all born into captivity. I refuse to buy a wild caught bird. That just is not right. However the ones that have been born in captivity have no knowledge of life any other way. The best thing that we can do is to educate the public and to be able to provide for these birds when they become unwanted or abused. There are a great many shelters that provide safe aviarys that are very much like their natural enviornment. If you have concerns about birds that are being abused then contact one of these shelters and do something about it. If you are just upset about people who have birds that tame them keep in mind this one question. What about the alternative,What would happen if all these breeders had no one to take thier birds. They would then have to start killing them off because they could no longer afford to feed them. Yes they would eventually stop breeding because there would be no money in it. In the mean time what would have to the bird population that already exists? Wild birds would continue to breed and survive. But alot of the exotics are already on endangered species list and the only way to have them to continue to exist is to be able to breed in captivity. Consisder that even though mankind is the culprit that has caused alot of damage, at least some of mankind is trying to correct the damage that has been done. If you have strong feelings about this then DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Otherwise all we can do is just sit here and blow of steam that accomplishes nothing but uses the electricity to run the computer. I do what I think is right for me and for my love of animals and birds. I would only suggest that the other people do the same thing Do what is right for you to do. Let God take care of the rest.

If you're talking about forcing a bird to be sociable, I totally understand. My Timneh Grey has had two other owners and he didn't let me pet him for two years. No big deal. He still doesn't step up and that doesn't bother me at all, because he's a good boy, and very smart. All I have to do is say "Ross, go in your cage now. It's night night." and in he walks ...
Importation of wild parrots is illegal, so if anyone around here is buying a truly wild bird, that person isn't just a jerk, they're also begging for jail time.
Domestic parrots like Ross, who have just never had a serious home, don't belong anywhere that they go. They usually never get to fulfill the very basic parrot need of nuclear family. To place them with another bird floods the market with more babies who need understanding homes.
People's hearts are in the right place. Many of them just aren't very good at it.

It is in human nature to desire to tame. Look at men, they tend to go for the wild women because they want something to catch. It's about a challenge.
*We play sports because we desire to tame the out of controll feelings we have when we can not properly shoot the ball into a small net.
*We play music because we desire to take sloppy melodies that would litter a page unless we master it and make beautiful music.
*We continue art because lines and movement are tamed upon a canvas when the real world continues in it's movement.
Things become beautiful when they are tamed because once an object or being has been mastered, it becomes ours to keep. *That's the beauty of relationships- contained and mastered feelings and emotions to learn how to relate to another.

NEVER try to keep a wild bird. If it is injured and has no hope of retuning to the wilds, that is one thing. But otherwise it is just cruel. ALWAYS by domestic birds if you want a bird.

Because, if you tame a bird, then you will get more enjoyment out of it, instead of it biting you, it will talk to you, also it is fun to train them!
