He's been at the catnip and yes.... he's spaced out. Boom! Boom! The old ones are the best. Sorry I did not mean to sound flippant.

It could be that he your dog is getting old. My old cat does the same. He sometimes just sits and stares at cupboards doors. It is very sad to see and I give him lots of cuddles when he acts this way, As my vet assures me that this sort of behaviour is to be expected when a pet is getting on in years.

Though my cat was out hunting early hours of this morning and dumped a mouse head on the kitchen floor. Lovely. So he is not like it all the time.

I hope that you find a solution to this problem as our pets are family members and are just like our children.

Bye xx

I am only hazarding a guess here but inbred dogs (Most breeds) can suffer from neurological problems besides just the usual culprits of hip dysplasia, and extra eyelids. At least your dog isn't running around after phantom butterfly's. Good luck

sometimes they can trace a speck of dust - some breeds of dog (hunting dogs - or sight hounds) have excellent sight and see things that we probably don't. That or it's sleeping with its eyes open ;). My cat does this weird thing where she'll run after something looking at it the whole time and there is nothing there - it's a bit freaky when i'm home alone, but i tell myself there must be some dust floating around! :)

I am thinking for the same reason as we do sometimes....we call them petit mals, or a very mild form of epilepsy, to deal with the electrical activity in his brain, get hima check up at the vet, but I am sure he'll be ok. If it were spirits as suggested he would react in some way.

To freak you out!!!!

My dog does this, she likes to keep a vigil for any spiders or months that might come her way and seems to have sussed out their favourite parts of the house.

Failing that, it might be something medical like absences ect ect. if your dog has suddenly started doing it.

If your worried take it to the vet.

Is he an old dog? He could be having problems seeing. Take him to the vet, I'm sure he can determine if your dog is losing his sight or else.

He's contemplating the mysteries of the universe. Has he been watching the 700 Club?

He is watching galactic battles between angels and demons that humans, due to their unpure nature, are not able to see.

If he barks after staring, it's because the demons won that particular battle and they are coming towards you.
