Your kitten is just curious, and the shiny gemstone is pretty to her. Don't worry, it will pass with time. Give her something else to gain her attention and the problem will be solved before long. Take care, and give you kitty a squeeze for me!

Some stones have a salty taste to them...no, I'm not kidding. Animals will lick salty things. Quite seriously, rinse the ones she likes best and then taste them--you may be surprised! Sodium is after all a mineral.

Your kitten used to be a jeweller in its previous life. She can't stop this memory. The need to test real gems from fake is controlling her actions. Any that she won't lick are probably fake. Test the theory out!

It's probably because she is a girl. What girl doesn't like gems and diamonds? ;) I don't know, but my cat licks socks. Just make sure you always have water out for her. She'll probably always lick those just because cats fall into routine.

Maybe they are salty and taste nice to cats, distract it by hiding treats in toys for it, or wash the stones in lemon washing up liquid cats dont like lemon or citrus flavour things,

It depends what the crystal is. I have a salt lamp and my cat sits licking it purely for the salt!
