Sugar creates an acid condition in the body. ... When the body is ill,.. it is most often in a too acidic condition. ... Sugar (and espectially refined sugar), is probably the most acid producing food that a person could consume,.. so it would be wise to avoid sugar if you are dealing with depression or any other illness for that matter.
... You want to bring the body into a more alkaline state if you are experiencing depression or most any other form of illness. I would recommend that you eat a largely raw fruit and veggie diet,.. and preferably organic produce. Consume plenty of dark greens such as raw spinach or kale. Make sure you get the right source and amount of protiens for your body. Some possible sources are; - brown rice and bean combinations,.. nutritional brewers yeast mixed in cold apple cider,.... fish,... eggs,.... grass fed, orgainically raised buffalo meat or beef. .. etc. Note: You will probably do well to keep the red meat to a minimum until you are feeling better.
Natural food supplements such as Blue Green Algae, which can be purchased in either capsule or tablet or powder form, can be very helpful to take on a regular basis, if your particular digestive system is ok with it. .. You will have to try it to find that out. ... The algae can be extremely helpful not only with depression, but most any illness,.. simply because it provides an extremely nutritious food source that is very easily assimilated by the body. ... You will want to experiment with how much to take. You should start out by taking perhaps two capsules a day and gradually build up the amount until you are aware that you are feeling direct benefit from consuming it. .. It is completely safe to take as much of the algae as you want because it is simply a natural food.
I would recommend taking the wild form of algae (Klamath Algae), over the commercially grown algae (Spirulina). The wild algae is more potent and contains a more complete nutrient make up. ........ The algae can cause a mild detox reaction in the body when it is consumed at a high enough dose. This can take the form of mild headache, mild diarreah etc. If this happens just lower the amount you are consuming until the detox reactions subside. Then gradually increase over time.
Avoid alcohol, refined foods, sugar, caffien, soda, etc.
and drink plenty of clean spring water
.... There is alot of evidence that fish oil is very beneficial in treating mental illness. You will need to research how much is needed in order to experience benefit.
I would also recommend the service found on the following web site; www.truehope.com ..... This organisation in Canada provides specifically designed vitamin and mineral supplements to help people suffering different forms of mental illness. I am aware of individuals who have been helped tremendously by these folks.
Also know that regular exercise is very benefitial in treating depression. You need to break a good sweat and get your endorphins moving most every day. ... Also,.. get plenty of sunshine. It is extremely helpful.
Be Well...

Sort of. Sugar boosts your energy level and what goes up must come down resulting in a sugar drop or low. For me I get headaches and I'm a bit irritable too. Can lead to depression but, most likey doesn't.

I have read that certain foods are actually linked to depression. I'm not sure why but it would be good to do some research on the topic.
