Because God is Love and evidentally you don't think so. I know one thing I want to go to Heaven when I die, I surely don't want to burn in Hell. I Love God and always will. I think you need to sit down and think about it. Where would you rather go? Heaven Or Hell

What makes you so judgmental? I am not religious, but I don't see any difference between implying 'the religious' are utterly stupid and their condemnation of you as a sinner or whatever. Its all intolerance and ignorance isn't it?
If you genuinely want to know what attracts people to religion, I would say its a pretty complex and multi-facted issue. But I guess it boils down to this; fear.
But I want to know why you feel the need to provoke 'the religious' so badly that you call yourself Jesus666? It doesn't offend me personally but I don't understand why you would deliberately wish to offend Christians and 'the religious'? Surely what you can't tolerate about 'the religious' is the same thing you are displaying yourself?

I think some people want some explanation for the existence of the world. For many, I think it is the result of the brainwashing that they were brought up with. Others are insecure and just need something to hang onto. Some want some kind of reassurance that death is not the end, and that everyone who has hurt them will get what is coming to them in the end. I think that most of the reasons have to do with the emotions since religion is definitely not based on logic. Personally, I don't care what anybody wants or needs to believe in as long as they make it a private matter. Unfortunately, many don't.

Well if you'd wanted to pose a non-offensive question you shouldn't have added the last part.
Mankind have always searched for something more, something other that cannot be detected necessarily by the 5 senses. Things relating to the soul and eternity. 'Eternity is set in the heart of man'
Religion is as old as the Earth itself doesn't that make a powerful statement about us?

I'm not attracted to religion. I wasn't raised in any faith, nor did I take the least bit of notice of anyone who tried to tell me about theirs, I found them all a bit weird, that includes the man I married, as I managed to pull him away from his church. However, one day, a friend invited me to her baptism, and out of respect for her beliefs I went along, all rather embarrassing at first as I'd never been amongst the 'happy clappy' brigade before! But something stirred in me as I listened to the testimonies, and those being baptised, one after another, started to talk about a real relationship with a living Jesus, something I'd never thought about. I was still safe at this point. Then the pastor started talking about people who look for happiness (or peace) in drink, sex or drugs. Or anti-depressents. I was taking them at the time, and it really was as if he was just talking to me. When he asked if anyone wanted to be blessed by Jesus, my arm went up, almost against my will. Immediately I was baptised in the Holy spirit (I found out later that's what happened as I'd never heard of it before.) It was like being filled with pure love, and I felt the presence of God like He was sitting next to me. My depression was cured at that moment, never to return. I could no longer deny Jesus. I've never looked back. And I'm not stupid, I'm an intelligent woman.

People have believed in some sort of religion since the beginning of time. I think because it offers comfort when we feel our life is out of control and we don't know what to do." There is no one more religious than a man about to die." I think we need to believe in something bigger than ourselves - a higher power to maybe give us hope , strength to continue and comfort when all else fails.

Maybe it's a comfort to people for when the eventuality happens and we die. I don't follow or believe in religion but my own experiences have found the elderly do. Perhaps when the end is near we look to something to aleviate the fear of death.

Some people do things because they are stupid and do not know any better.
But that does not mean that all people who are followers of a religion are stupid...some really intelligent people still believe that there is God or a higher power greater than ours...why they believe well that is a matter of personal conviction or preference...

No. it is the truth. You obviously dont know anything about it.
And it is not a security blanket, or a comfort to who ever said that you just dont know anything about religion. I know god is real. People have died and gone to heaven and come back to life. And their is no reason to lie about it.
So heres a new question
What makes people attracted to you?
answer-Utter stupidity
You will know when you die (its gonna happen somday) that There is a god.

it is what you are brought up in. so you are spoon fed it as a child and then the ball is already rolling.
i'd say its not utter stupidity and it has a great effect of bonding communities such as in buddishm. but in the uk it seems to separate and divide.
