Witchcraft is the practice of magic. It is not good or evil or black or white. It is the intent of the person that determines the type of magic.
Understand there are people out there that use magic to hurt others just because they want to. Witchcraft to me does not promote anything. Wicca does however promote peace and love and unity. It felt like a new age hippy movement to me. Please I mean no offense to those that still practice wicca. I jumped out of that boat a long time ago.
I have seen many times though that beginners focus only on the light half and deny the dark half. I am talking about those that always surround themselves with white light (not a bad thing). those that will not defend themselves when nessecary. Those that will not bind, return to sender, or work with dark gods and goddesses.
Working magic for healing is great. But is it wrong to return the negativeity to someone that has sent it to you? Is it wrong to stop someone from hurting themselves or others? Do not deny your dark half because we all have one you and we all must find balance between them both.
Dont take this as me saying the negative intent is good. It is not. I am taking about learning about your dark half. Try contacting a Dark Goddess and see how it feels. They will give a serious power boost in your work. Dark is not bad it is innate within us all. Your intent determines wether you are "good" or "bad".
If I have confused in anyway please email me and I will gladely clarifiy.

I definitely believe Witchcraft can be and probably most often is practiced ethically. Yes the major tenets of doing what you will but harming none, and that whatever you send out will return three fold are virtuous as well as mindful rules to follow.
Edit: as to why some people think witchcraft is bad is because western religion, stemming from ancient Judaism, forbids the practice of Witchcraft. In fact also forbids the preaching of any other system but its own. Genocides we committed to weed out other competing systems.
Look throughout history and usually more peaceful people were overcome by those willing to be violent and less tolerant on other ideological beliefs. This has scared the psyche of the general public as evolutionarily as the only ones that survived many such purges of "heresy" either agreed with such intolerant philosophies, or were too scared or intelligent enough not to say otherwise. This bottlenecked the genetic lines so brave thinkers are fewer and farther between than they otherwise would have been if free thinking societies were more prevalent in the past.

People don't really understand what Wiccans are all about. There aren't any Wiccan families shown on TV, at least none of which I'm aware. The witches shown on television and in movies are patterned after stereotypes--evil devil-worshippers, foolish mixed-up kids experimenting with the occult, or benign witch-housewives--and generally shown casting spells accompanied by elaborate special effects.
I don't believe as you do, but all the Wiccans I've known personally are great people. I've learned enough to know that much of what you believe is quite beautiful. The Wiccan Rede, or Witch's Law, is a good example. "Do as you will unless it harms another." That's pretty basic ethics.

Witchcraft, in my viewpoint. Is the learn of the climate, the practice of magic, and the bending of energies. Harry Potter has various examples of duality between sturdy and evil. Which makes it some what comparable to Christianity. continuously scuffling with against evil beings. Ie- Harry Potter and Voldemort. each and every character has their team, to combat against one yet another. sturdy vs. evil. a million. Witchcraft spells, are using ability meant to attain a definite objective. alongside with, non violent, calming, constructive ability. it somewhat is basically an occasion. human beings do spells for the comparable motives that others will do prayers. A spell might want for use as a variety of worship. Or a spell might desire to be for the self somewhat of Gods. 2. The Mists of Avalon is a large action picture. i do no longer understand if it somewhat is predicated upon a real tale or any ingredient. It has some historical past to it. Avalon is a magical magical place, which you will attain whilst they astral undertaking. The action picture potential that the characters are there bodily. needless to say, this could be a fable place, it somewhat is in elementary terms a action picture. It has stuff approximately covens, witchcraft, and herbology. the classic techniques. it somewhat is actual that witchcraft has no longer something to do with Satanism. while you're Christian, in spite of the shown fact that, then witchcraft is condemned as evil and sorcery. in certainty, witchcraft is forbidden. In any Monotheism faith, witchcraft isn't allowed. maximum Christians have self belief that God is the single that could have all the flexibility. for this reason they do no longer practice witchcraft. no longer in elementary terms that, witchcraft can some situations bring about the path of evil. it somewhat is between the justifications why it particularly is often stated as Satanism.

The Burning Times had a huge effect on the world. Remember that it came about just as the printing press did. The Burning Times became the first example of a sensationalistic media story. Books like the "Malleus Malleficarium" ("The Witches' Hammer") came out, there were pamphlets, it was explained why the "witches" had to be burned.
The myths that "justified" the Inquisitions, the arrests, the tortures, the deaths had to be very powerful to make people behave that way. And the myths stuck around.

It's hard to overcome a stereotype that is thousands of years old. People fear the unknown and for a long time, the practices of the Old Religion was done and kept in secrecy, which stemmed from the old fears of persecution that many of our Pagan ancestors held and passed down to us. Alot of Pagans still practice in secret. But as the years go by, more and more light is shed on our beliefs and the fact that what we practice isn't evil. It is natural and very beautiful. Keep doing the good works that you have been doing and brightest blessings to your hearth!

First of all "Witchcrat" can be good or bad. It depends on the practitioner. I think people watch too many movies.
Regardless of the path it is the person who practices it and it is all INTENT. You should be careful what you ask for regardless of path you just might get it.
The general American public is Christian oriented. Fear of different ideas, belief and cultures can lead to the idea that Witchcraft is bad. MOVIES are part of it.
Keep up doing good things, respect the space of others. Heal and low key who you are to anyone who might ty to hurt you.
PS> I am NOT a practitioner of Witchcraft but have known some.

Take a look at the person. Most times, the people who say witchcraft is bad are the ones who are "infallible" or so they think they are. The cocky ones. I've studied witchcraft and I agree with you. It's a good religeon even though some do study black magic. A witch is supposed to heal, to learn, grow, and share his/her powers for all good. Also remember history. Witches were burned at the stake ages ago. It kinda hasn't faded even though we have freedom of religeon.

I think it's just out of plain ignorance that people denounce things that they don't understand. I don't know anything about witchcraft, therefore I would never talk bad about it. If everyone took the same attitude about other things in the world, we wouldn't be such an angry place.

becuase the word "witch" has been taught to us as a bad word from a young age, throughout time. when the non-pagans took over, they attempted to stamp out the traditional "wise woman" role. They did this by re-casting the wise woman as a child-eating woman, thus steeping the word witch in negative conatations. Besides, when you say whitch, people think of cualdrons and stuff and they reject it becuase they think its silly becuase they don't understand the difference between hollywood's witch and real witches.
