My hubby and I would like to travel to Nova Scotia for 1 week next autumn. We're saving up now. Does anyone have any advice for us as far as: what to see, how much to save, where to stay (we're partial to B&Bs, but would love input from everyone)? We'd love any advice for this trip. Thanks!

Hi...i live in NS...the far SW tip of it. I can send you some information/suggestions after i have some time to think it over. You will LOVE Nova Scotia it is an amazing place to visit (and live). Are you looking to explore the whole province or just Cape Breton (where most people go)?

There are tons of B&B's all along the way...novascotia.com is a great website for ideas, milage between places, and attractions.

Cape Breton (an island connected by a causeway is amazing in the fall), whale watching off Digby neck is unbelievable (do the tour in the zodic, you will not regret it), Halifax is a beautiful city with culture, a great music scene, and good food, Yarmouth has a gorgeous lighthouse and great great beaches (not only for swimming but for romantic walks), yarmouth also has some awesome museums, oh there is so much to sea (hehehe....cheesy pun). I am kind of a free soul with traveling so i would almost recommend just showing up and exploring, talk to locals when you arrive (we are all very friendly) and relax and enjoy!!!
The cost of gas is a bit on the high side (currently it is $ 1.14 a litre which is $ 3.42 a gallon). Your dollar is equal to about $ 1.11 CAN. Oh you will have a blast......novascotia.com will be really helpful there are also tons of tourist bureaus everywhere too. Have fun!!!!

in the initiating, we are not an island! Nova Scotia has many events and word, yet regrettably in ought to, maximum of the touristy issues are nonetheless off season. yet, once you've a automobile there are superb places to bypass. So, assuming you're using, and that i don't recognize that, enable's initiate with Amherst. that's a stunning little city, very quite with museums and some very exciting historic previous. There are the Joggins fossil cliffs that are international renown. In Parrsboro, there is the Fundy Geological Museum, a ought to make certain even as there, also the optimum tides in the international. i extremely propose that section. there is the Age of Sail Museum and many different useful little sights. advise Harbour is a excellent stress with a picturesque fishing village to spend your time in. you may bypass on to Truro a pretty city with large procuring and lodging, keep going to Halifax - steeped in sea-faring historic previous with many museums and a superb harbour. There are pubs, and an excellent nighttime existence too. Head on to Mahone Bay, Shelbourne, Lunenburg, around the coast to the Annopolis Valley. Breath taking perspectives. attempt to get to historic Cape Breton with Louisburg and the Cabot path. that's only a sprint of Nova Scotia. not conceivable to position in writing intimately. attempt Nova Scotia Tourism and order a Doers and Dreamers handbook. you'll come once and favor to go back lower back. Too undesirable it wasn't in summer months although, because the stay theatres will be up and operating. get exhilaration from!

It sounds like a great trip. You will love the Canadians - wonderful, friendly people.

My advice to you would be add to your budget and savings plan the bit extra you should spend to get some good travel insurance. There is an amazing variety of things that can go wrong to ruin a trip in an instant. You can explore the subject, get a quote, and buy on-line too if that suits you. Here is a really neat site that is easy to use and provides a variety of options. Check out all the options. I like Travel Guard International’s “Worldwide Health”. Travel Guard is the industry leader for good reason. They deliver quality service at a modest price. The policy provides coverage for health-related issues (like an illness during the trip) and for traveling-related issues (like lost baggage etc.) Go to http://www.wavehelp.com/travel-medical/index.htm and click on the red phone booth to see the details.

Best wishes.

I have found the following site very useful. It is run by the Bed and Breakfast operators of Nova Scotia and The Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia (TIANS).

I hope you enjoy your stay.

As for what to see, I personally enjoyed Halifax and Louisbourg the best but it's all very nice and the people are great. Enjoy your trip.
