They generally last a few days to a few weeks.
In clinical studies, many patients treated with Lexapro began to feel better within 1 or 2 weeks, although the full effect may take 4 to 6 weeks. You should follow up with your healthcare professional and report your progress.
Lexapro is well tolerated by most people. The most commonly reported side effects of Lexapro are nausea, insomnia, problems with ejaculation, somnolence, increased sweating, fatigue, decreased libido, and anorgasmia. Most of the side effects experienced by patients taking Lexapro are mild to moderate and go away with continued treatment, and usually do not cause patients to stop taking Lexapro.

I was on Lexapro for about a month. The side affects I had while on it was chattering jaw, edginess, anxieties, Non-emotions (sort of not feeling happy, just Blah.), headaches, shakiness, etc. If you are feeling side affects, ALWAYS contact your doctor. They may try to cut back and slowly increase your dosage.
However I had even MORE side affects when I weaned myself off. The withdrawals were like the ones above along with dizziness, spacey type feeling, disorientation, memory issues, etc. The withdrawals actually lasted for months and I was on Lexapro for only one month.
I rather deal with the depression than all those side affects. But fortunately for me I'm doing much better these days. I had less side affects on Xanax, but that was a short term treatment. I don't even take Advil unless I really need relief from pain. My husband is in prison due to past drug use and will always have the addiction, but has been clean for a good long while.

i was taking it for a while and the first few times it made me dizzy , sick feeling, and sweat a little bit. Then after i was used to it every day was a good day it really helped me see the good in things instead of always the worst, **** i was happy to see the sun shine, wind blow, and let it rain i was always in a good mood. Depending on why you were taking Lexapro and how long. Once you get it in ur system and then just stop not really a good idea. will cause u to get really dizzy, sick, and even slip, You should gradually step to help u and ur body cope with the change.

Dizzy...sick.... your body is trying to tell you something. I just threw my Lexapro in the trash.....I'd rather be "crazy" than walk around feeling diconnected from the world. Maybe I was not a good candiate for treatment with Lexapro, but I found in particular the sexual side effects intolerable (and they didn't go away). I'm taking other steps to deal with my slight depression......

I take my Lexapro at night, right before bed, that way I sleep through the side effects. Good luck!

Make sure you eat a bite w/ it if you get nauseated. You can also try Imitrol, an OTC anti-nausea syrup (I take it).
My side-effects went away after a couple of weeks or so, but every individual is different. Good luck! And stay on your meds... it's worth it in the long run.

I do not know how long you have been taking this medication, what other medications you are taking or what other conditions you have. You do need to keep in communication with the Doctor who prescirbed this medication. Your doctor needs to know anytime you have a side effect. Please contact your doctor and let your doctor know about this. Call and leave a message with the nurse or receptionist and tell them you are having these exact problems. Try to get in or talk to your doctor on the phone. Your doctor can decide what to do. Do not listen to other people about not being on medications. Obviously your doctor prescribed this medication because you need it, but there are other choices and doses. You are an individual. Something that can seem simple to a regular person is important to the doctor. Please tell your doctor.
