Please do one thing...wash all of the sheets and blankets, and all the clothes after you applied the lotion...the towels, etc..the mites can stay in those cloths and avoid rubbing up against anyone...the sores will heal fast enough..Personally, i would take a bath in baking soda...very soothing for bug bites also...and always keep clean cloths on...sorry you got them...but it will probably be a couple of weeks at the most till their gone. God Bless.

I was living on a commune (seriously) that had an outbreak of scabies. I never had bites, even tho both my lovers and my baby who shared my bed all had them. I later found out it was because the bugs need more than 24 hours to breed, and hot water kills them, and i always took a hot shower every morning. So I made us all take hot showers daily, and none of us had any marks by the time we did the treatment. I guess I'm wondering if its really scabies -- most people got most of their bites in between the toes, but one of my lover got his on his arm where he carried the baby bare-but, because she had it in the diaper area (common in babies). Also, i agree with the other person about sheets, the dr should have told you to remove all bedding carefully (dont shake, roll it up) and wash everything you own in hot water.

you may have to do it a few times over a course of time. GO to a drug store and get the crabs medicine and wash everything. Scabies can live for days on bedding and stuff. And use hot water. I hope this helps, it is very contagious so stay away from people, and make sure they don't have it to give it back to you. As far as the bites they will go away if a few days, if they don't you need another treatment.

Scabies are not insects biting, they are mites living within your skin. They burrow under the top layer, and move farther along once they have destroyed their readily accessable food supply. This leaves patches of blackened skin behind, because the mites have destroyed the veins that previously fed it.
Getting rid of the scabies mites takes dilligence on your part. You must not only treat yourself, but all areas of your house that you may have contacted.
Below is an explanation straight from Wikipedia....
Follow Up
After treatment has been applied or taken, (or directly before treatment if you are careful and wear gloves) cleaning of environment should occur. The key is timing. All household members should be treated at the same time and cleaning must be thorough and simultaneous. Expect increased itching and red bumps for the first week after taking any medication for scabies. The dead mites remain in the skin for 30 days. They are removed with the body's natural shedding process. During those 30 days expect new bumps and itching.

Home Cleaning
Wash in hot water and dry in a hot dryer:
Recently worn clothing
Towels and bedding should be removed and washed daily for at least three days after each treatment, including mattress pad and pillow covers.
Dryclean
Things that cannot be washed can be dry cleaned.
Dryer Only OK
Pillows can be tossed in hot dryer for 30 minutes and mattresses can be vacuumed.
"Quarantine" in Plastic Bag, Two Weeks:
Stuffed animals and pillows or freeze these items and shoes in the freezer overnight in a plastic bag with twist tie. This will kill any mites.
Don't forget about things like coats, gloves, hats, slippers, robes, kitchen towels, wetsuits, etc. Either isolate long enough for the mites to die in a plastic bag (at least 2 weeks) or clean or freeze overnight.
Vacuum
Vacuum all carpets, rugs and upholstered furniture daily.
Mop
Mop all floor surfaces and clean bathroom surfaces (this only needs to be done after the first treatment).
Miscellaneous Cleaning
Thoroughly clean brushes and combs too (this is extra precaution and may not be necessary). This routine needs to be repeated at the time of the second follow-up treatment to ensure a thorough kill.
If there are pets in the house, they should be either treated with a pemethrin shampoo at the same time as the humans or isolated and treated with Revolution. There are other herbal treatments if desired. Ivermectin products are also available for pets.
Don't forget about things like coats, gloves, hats, slippers, robes, kitchen towels, wetsuits, etc. Either isolate long enough for the mites to die in a plastic bag (at least 2 weeks) or clean or freeze overnight.

If your pup has been treated for 3 months now with Advantix he should be fine to go back in your room. Any fleas that may still be in there won't survive on your pup. Please talk to your vet though to find out for sure what he has been giving your pup because neither Advantage or Advantix is given with shots. They are both topical applications. My pup (8 months) has been on Advantix since I brought him home and I haven't seen a single flea or tick on him or in the house. Hope this helps!

I believe scabies are bugs festering under the skin. Length of treatment and healing depends on the severity and extent of infestation. Your doctor is the best person to advise you.
