When it comes to handycam sony is the best but then would be costly. I suppose you should get one within your budget. When getting one, make sure it supports atleast 2 megapixel for still pictures.

You know Canon has the best experience on still cameras and Sony has experience on all thing, specially on movies and its accessories. But if you don't want to buy them, other companies have good models, even better than Sony and Canon. I recommend Panasonic camcorders that are so power full and reasonable. When I want to buy electronics thins I will compare all companies. In all my compares Panasonic got the higher level!

Sony

They have more experience in movie related equipment. I prefer a Canon still picture camera.

I suggest you go for a sony. It is very user friendly and can count on it for quality and clarity the best.

canon are usualy smaller but have a smaller battery, i use both my next will be a canon dc20 dvd it will easily go in your pocket
