I'm wondering where the best place to purchase hardwood flooring is. I would like to buy it someplace that also will do the installation as well as take up my old carpet. Do I trust someone like Lowe's or Home Depot? A furniture store that carries hardwood? I want a good price, but I also want a product that will last and someone putting it in who knows what they are doing. Also, my home is an older home and I have decorated it with a lot of antiques. I want a rustic looking hardwood...nothing real high gloss. Any good websites where I can view different kinds of hardwood? Thanks....=)

Home Depot-you can take some samples with you and see what you like in your home and get a free quote with and without installation.

do not go to empire! they were asses to us and gave us a price way over what it should be...they talked down to us and thought we were stupid because we were girls.

There is nothing wrong to have wood flooring under appliances in the kitchen , the problem that you will have is height clearance , you see if the cabinets are already installed they usually are set at a standard height for the dishwasher and the stove , the fridge not so much, there is usually plenty of space between the upper cabinet and the top of the fridge ... the dishwasher is the most critical , it may not be sufficient space between the added floor height and the under side of the counter top , and the stove you might find it 3/4 of an inch higher than your top , so this are the only problems , other wise go for it ...
