But what was the question?

Would it help if we armed the atheists?

Thanks Lightning - as most atheists couldn't be bothered to threaten someone for believing something, it's reassuring to know our words aren't taken in a negative context. I know you really do only want to help us 'not to perish' as you put it, but since we don't recognise any perishing beyond that of earthly death, which we also think, sadly, is coming to us all equally, Christian, Atheist, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist and Pagan, we're not willing to compromise our lives and lifestyles to do some of the things that many Christians say we have to do to avoid this spiritual perishing. So while we're not necessarily threatened by you guys either, we're never going to agree with you on certain fundamentals. That's human nature, I guess. But truly, thanks for the statement of not feeling threatened; this is genuinely good to know.

Good, Christians shouldn't feel threatened by nontheists. Most of us are sincerely for freedom of conscience. We don't want to eradicate your religion, we just don't want the extremists among you to force their narrow interpretation of your faith on everyone else. Separation of church and state protects all faiths and lifestances.

As for the perishing part...we're all going to die. That's an absolute certainty. The difference seems to be that we aren't concerned with what happens to us afterward because we don't believe anything does. It's what we do during life that matters. Living a moral life matters, not because it will buy us a ticket into a blissful posthumous paradise, but because of how it affects our lives and those around us now, during this brief, precious span we call life.

You haven't got the answer to keep me from perishing, unless you've been hiding the answers to advanced nanotechnology from the rest of the world.

I'm going to die, I'm going to be dumped in the ground, and that's the utter end of me. No more life, no more consciousness, no more awareness, no afterlife, no heaven, no hell, are you starting to get a clue here?

Um. Lee? Just a note, but, um. You really, REALLY might want to check the forum you're in. If an atheist believes in observation and proof, then you should really observe that this is, indeed, the "Religion & Spirituality" group/forum. Discussions of Christianity are appropriate here. And as long as they remain respectful and not snide, sarcastic, judging, or telling me what I supposedly truly believe deep down when no one knows that but me, I will return that respect. Of course, questions like this beg for response because they're so danged patronizing.

Well that's good, as I wasn't threatening you. I just think you are wrong, and no christian has yet come up with an argument that was even 1 per cent convincing.

The last think I want is for you to feel threatened, I just want you to stop treating Yahoo Answers like a religious forum.

Well yeah, how can we be a threat to blind faith? How can we make you believe in something when you believe so deeply that there is a god that your true sight is clouded? We can't touch you, but perhaps, just perhaps, we may get one or two, here or there and eventually squash religion, and we will all be free of the burden of the invisible parent figure looming over us in the sky.

And most of the Atheists don't want you to keep believing in something that is not true.
Remember you have a 50/50 chance of being right.
And we have a 50/50 change of being right.
You have a 50/50 chance of being wrong.
We have a 50/50 chance of being wrong.
So who wins?
Neither of us. We just all find out the truth.

Never mind atheists, it is quite clear from questions in this forum that Christians do not feel threatened by reality. Not surprising, I guess, because they can't recognize it even when it's staring them in the face. That's what happens when you turn your brain off.

The only thing that can threaten a Christian is his own intelligence.

When human as a race go extinct (God will too!)

I believe in God but my way... its never the community worship (Muslim , Catholic, Baptist, Judaism, Evangelist, any division).

It will always be just Me and God! No other man-made "product" or theories (Bible, Koran etc.) written by man's hands and out of humans' mouth will corrupt any beliefs I have. Adam and Eve, Moses, Jesus, Mohammad is in God's Image so AM I. You are therefore I AM!!!

What part of Mind Your Own Business don't you understand?

What do you care?
They want nothing to do with your way of thinking...that's all.

Why do you care whether they perish or not?
It's simply none of your business.
