EXCELLENT question.
I fling.
I have been bothered about gherkins for quite some time. Say that half the people who eat McD's burgers don't like gherkins. (It's probably more). Half of all the gherkins used in a store are a complete waste...in fact half of the gherkins McD's uses WORLDWIDE are thrown away.
It could probably feed a small third world country!
Why on earth don't they just make some with and some without and we opt for which we prefer?
A previous answerer was right...even if you fling them, the taste still lingers!

I had to research this one. I thought you were talking about gerkin off. Whew I'm glad you are not. I do like my gerkin pickles, but sometimes my 7year old will get to them first. Yeah, she will open my burger and rip them right off and into her mouth. I just let her do it. My way of showing I care... okay I'm too slow.

i love gerkins, i always eat them at macdonalds and put them on the burgers i make at home too

Oooooh def a keeper, I save mine til last too, I even open the burger when I get it to make sure they are not overlapped, as they sometimes are, so more of the burger gets covered, I always have them in at home, great with salads, or with cheese...

the gherkins the only thing in a mcshitburger that tastes of anything remotely resembling food,i eat the gherkin and chuck the rest in the bin,saves all the effort of digesting it

Gerkins are GREAT!!
I normally have everyone elses @ Mc D's
And I agree with the Subway comment all sald on my foot long Italian BMT please extra jalapinos.

I really like gherkins. I also like olive and blue cheese. I am definately a lover of strong flavours.

I blatantly get them out of there asap - they seem to contaminate the rest of the burger. I do find that I am usually with at least one nasty lil' fecker who is more than happy to eat it tho.
