I know this is not a question, but I have to get the word out. I have met many Christians here who insult my buddhists beliefs without understanding them. I just got one a few minutes ago that said "buddha is not the creator". I have been told to stop burning incense to false gods. So please, allow me to inform you:

Buddhists do NOT worship Buddha. We also neither believe nor disbelieve in a higher power. We recognize that Buddha was a man who found a way for us to end our suffering, nothing more. So please, do not reproach me or any other buddhist for worshipping Buddha, because we do not. Thank you for listening. I hope this has informed you, because I know that hate is often the result of misinformation.

Ok, you asked for it! Buddha believed that everyone is in a state of constant suffering caused by desire for worldly things.

A quote: Never have anything to do with likes and dislikes. The absence of what one likes is painful, as is the presence of what one dislikes. Therefore don't take a liking to anything. To lose what one likes is hard, but there are no bonds for those who have no likes and dislikes. From preference arises sorrow, from preference arises fear, but he who is freed from preference has no sorrow and certainly no fear.

He believed that this desire originated in the mind or self, and to fix it we had to destroy the source of the desire.

Quote: All wrong-doing arises because of mind. If mind is transformed can wrong-doing remain?

He believed that through living a life following the eightfold path one could reform their mind and end their suffering

Many people have been enlightened. ie: Bodhidharma, Rinzai, Koi-ki, and hundredsof others. So I guess it is doing well. Something you should take into consideration, Damian: Do not speak harshly to any one; those who are spoken to will answer thee in the same way. Angry speech is painful: blows for blows will touch thee
-Buddha-

Judge not lest ye be judged
-The Bible-

I just want to say that it is unfortunate that those that are immature in the Christian faith have responded to you in such a manner. Please let me begin with a heart felt apology on behalf of my faith. Jesus never would have condemned you for how you feel about your faith, so neither will I. I will say that I hope that God will bless you with truth and revelation on your journey for obtaining true peace and wholeness. If you were to ever be curious about the real Christian faith, not the condemning, exclusionary one that people so often see. Please feel free to write me any time. Have a blessed day.

People should never be too old to learn anything.
I hope you have enlightened some here today.
I am not a Buddhist but I don't think dragging his name or teachings in the dirt serves any purpose at all.
If I am not going to drag any ones beliefs in the dirt then others should try not to.
But you are going to have all kinds of people in every group and they will try to get you mad so just ignore them the best you can and keep believing what you want. It's not hurting them so why should they care?

Nicely said. As a frequent answerer here in the Religion and Spirituality section, I've frequently had to point out that Buddhism (in my admittedly limited experience) appears to have caused a whole lot less conflict in the world than many of the other leading religions.

Go forward in peace, friend.

The facts is:
All humanity is now involved in a great controversy between Christ and Satan regarding the character of God, His law, and His sovereignty over the universe. This conflict originated in heaven when a created being, endowed with freedom of choice, in self-exaltation became Satan, God's adversary, and led into rebellion a portion of the angels. He introduced the spirit of rebellion into this world when he led Adam and Eve into sin. This human sin resulted in the distortion of the image of God in humanity, the disordering of the created world, and its eventual devastation at the time of the worldwide flood. Observed by the whole creation, this world became the arena of the universal conflict, out of which the God of love will ultimately be vindicated. To assist His people in this controversy, Christ sends the Holy Spirit and the loyal angels to guide, protect, and sustain them in the way of salvation. (Rev. 12:4-9; Isa. 14:12-14; Eze. 28:12-18; Gen. 3; Rom. 1:19-32; 5:12-21; 8:19-22; Gen. 6-8; 2 Peter 3:6; 1 Cor. 4:9; Heb. 1:14.)

Do you worship something? I am interested in what you have written. I have always thought that meditation on a belief system is worship, so therefore you would be worshiping the teachings of buddha? See what I mean? So this is a different outlook for me, please explain more....

I have never reproached or preached hate against you or Buddhists...thank you for the heads-up anyways.

Those "christians" who insult and reproach you (most likely unitelligently as well) are not true Christians...they do not truly have Christ in their hearts, because if they did then they would never have done such stupidity in the first place.

May you be happy in the path you have chosen...whatever it may be.

Yes, many are uninformed. While Buddha did find a good way for people to live in peace with eachother, he did not ensure eternal afterlife, despite what you may think.

While I'll admit much ignorance concerning Buddhism, nothing about what I do know has caused me to think ill of Buddhism or Buddhists in any way, shape or form.

Me Christian. You Buddhist. We fight now. :)

I agree with you that I do get fed up when I am constantly told to believe in God for Jesus is my salvation

Don't people know the more you shove something down someone else's throat, the more likely they will throw up?
