There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......

(L)isten: and validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.

To quote HK-47 from KotOR 2:

"Answer: Many organic meatbags find that question difficult to answer, Master, but I believe I can provide you with a satisfactory definition.
Definition: "Love" is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope.
Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds.
Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and strangely enough, not many meatbags would derive love from it.
Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targetting reticule, and together, achieving a singular purpose... against statistically long odds."

Love is the emotion of winning the unconditional companionship of the one of your choosing, and the willingness to offer that person your unconditional companionship as well.

Love is being willing to give, without any expectation or desire to be returned of the favor. Love is willing to forgive, no matter what the transgression is. Love does not envy what the other has. Love is not self-serving, but becomes the willing servant of another. Love protects and creates, not harms and destroys. Love shows undeserved mercy. Love forgets the mistakes of the past. Love knows no boundaries. Love perseveres and is longsuffering, no matter the situation.

Love is a gift from God to mankind, from mankind to God, from man to woman, from woman to man, from parent to child, from child to parent, and from people to people.

Love is all things we should strive to have in our lives... not just a physical companion... not just lust or marital passion... but as an undeserved kindness to all people.

And to quote my grandpa...
"This world would be a lot better place if everyone gave everyone else a hug".

A temporary insanity curable by marriage or by removal of the patient from the influences under which he incurred the disorder. This disease, like caries and many other ailments, is prevalent only among civilized races living under artificial conditions; barbarous nations breathing pure air and eating simple food enjoy immunity from its ravages. It is sometimes fatal, but more frequently to the physician than to the patient.

Love is when you understand the person and you accept that person for everything that they are. They make you a better person and you do the same for them. You can't get them out of your head. You always try to think of how to make the future better and happy for the other.
