actually green tea from the grocery store is probably more acceptable than other expensive brands. the body will only absorb what is needed regardless of "price".

tea or coffee containing caffiene has some benefits where liver disease is concerned. have him drink up and surely use honey or stevia (found at GNC)-the safest form of sweetner there is, and lemons (vitamin c) won't hurt either!

tell him to avoid foods containing iron (red meats and certain veggies) and cut back on as much sodium as possible. Also, drink plenty of water.

remember, fresh is better, frozen is second best. (veggies and fruits)

Hepatitis B (hep-B or HBV) is chronic in most....chances are that he may eventually at least need to try antiviral chemotherapy.

Good luck!

He should be ok to drink green tea. Most people with hep b go onto to clear it on their own (about 85%), the rest go on to chronic hepatitis B. Most people are asymptomatic, which is why hepatitis is such a dangerous disease. Please tell your friend, if he has chronic HBV, it is highly sexually transmittable and he should use safe sex practices.
