It's unreal to me how much time and energy people waste praying! If the prayer comes true they say "See! God listened". If it doesn't they say "it was God's will". Christian's are so blind they don't even realize that the same thing is going to happen whether they pray or not.

Praying is a way of talking to God, I truly believe in prayer if is is done with sincerity in what you are praying for, now all things will be heard by God, what he decides and how to handle the situation you pray about is not for us to understand, after all he is God. You must have faith and put the prayer in his hands. trust him, not take back the prayer or question it. God has a reason beyond our understanding as to how he chooses to handle the prayer. he takes care of much more than he is given credit for.
This is what I believe, hope I was able to help you understand about prayer. God bless

God's will is NOT always done. It's God's will that everybody would be saved (1 Timothy 2:4), but not everybody will be; in fact, the majority will be lost (Matthew 7:13-14).
When we pray something like "Thy will be done," we are saying that we want God's will to be done.

God has been known to change His will when people pray to Him. He is more interested in the condition of the heart see. Many times in the bible the Lord gave pardon because of prayer and belief.

Have you ever read the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy?
There you will find many instances where God's will was to destroy the disobedient Israelites but Moses prayed and God didn't. And also remember God was going to destroy this city, i forgot the name, and he sent Jonah to preach to them and if they accept and repent he will change is will? Well, you have other instances where God stuck to his will because he knows best in the end so we never know, if we are faithful and just he will do things for us as he did for his followers in the Bible and even David if you read in the Psalms.

There are numerous examples in the Bible where God allowed outcomes to be determined by what man wanted; like Moses pleading for the survival of the Israelites who were rebelling against him.
God isnt a brick wall, he wants a relationship with you and wants to know how you feel and answer some of those Godly prayers you have!

'Cos praying helps to lift problems off your mind to a Higher Force so that you don't have to contend with them anymore. It gives your heart peace and your mind quiet that no surmountable problem is too big for your Creator. He will take care of them and your problems and daily cares of the world will sort themselves out. All you need to do is give yourself enough patience and time. Trust in God and pray.

It's so you can have "proof". You pray. Let's say you pray for gas prices to go down. A noble cause, I must say. Then, 6 months later, what do you know? Gas prices DO go down! There ya go, "proof" god answers prayers.
It's as bad as saying the bible is true because of the "prophecies".

It's the relationship thing. He likes to hear from us.
Philippians 4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

It's OK to ask for stuff but it's important to ask, primarily, that His will be done. He has the better plan for our lives.
