Uh, that's just it. Some christians answer all questions with quotes from the bible or "jesus is the way", or something like that. And then there's the sort who say "it's wrong, cuz god sez so! that's all!" It's inane and stupid. It tends to infuriate people who ask real questions and who want real answers.
You should go with less "good news", and more "critical thinking". If a person doesn't respect your intellect, then don't expect them to pay any attention to your religious beliefs.

Frankly, in general the answer to your question is clearly "no".
However, you did a nice job with the question, and it seems that you're open-minded about this, so at least in this case, the answer is "yes". Sadly, the responses you've gotten from Christians even to this question have been mostly childish. Even given this opportunity, they couldn't rise to the occasion. Reading these responses, which group would you rather have raising your children, the Christians or the nonbelievers? I think it's pretty clear, and the mature Christian should be embarrassed by the answer.
Christians ARE capable of representing their faith in a mature and respectful way. I've seen several here do so, including you with this question. But yes, you're overwhelmed so far by the other kind - the "they just hate the truth" types . I'm sorry, and I know that you can't do anything about their behavior other than what you just did.

I believe you are right, but before Christians pull the woe is us card, i have also noticed that the Muslims are picked on a lot as well. I think a lot a people who comlpain or poke fun at religios beliefs do out of ignorance. Human Nature is such that we attack what we dont understand.
Also i might add that there must be opposition in all things, so the more opposition you get, the better job you are doing.

i love your question. i wish more people took it seriously and gave you some seriously thought out answers. If they did this would make a very good thread, unfortunately it seems your going to get radicals from both sides answering which will really do nothing but cancel each other out. i hope you start to get better answers.
As for my official answer - i am a deist and i have asked and answered some pretty hard hitting questions. For the most part radicals answer and convince me that my beliefs are correct. Mainly because Christianity preaches peace and love and tolerance and all of that but probably 75% of the answers from Christians on here are anything but those things. But to give credit where credit is due there are a few people who answer on here who do make me stop and think, not change my beliefs but at least give me something to think about.
Here's hoping you get some serious answers on here.

Doesn't it strike you that Christianity has a message of judgment? The love of Christians is tempered with the fear of God's wrath. The world is sitting under God's thumb, and at some point he's going to squish it. This is not love in any context with which I'm familiar.
I wrote some thoughts about the biblical "message" earlier. If you like, you can read them at the following link.

Katy:
I think there are too many representatives of a particularly shrill type of Christianity on this forum. When properly and intelligently stated, religious messages will rarely offend. But when they are cloaked in self-righteous and condemning tones, they invite derision from many quarters - even from religious thinkers.
I have shown some of this material to religious colleagues and they point out one other factor. In their words, there is too much "uneducated" commentary passing for discourse.
In short, I think we ought to elevate the level of communication so that it dignifies theological/spiritual concepts. After all, many of humanity's finest minds have been dedicated themselves to these issues.

I see two kinds of Christians posting.
The adult Christians who sincerely get a lot of joy out of being Christian and hope people of other faiths are as happy as they are. I enjoy swapping experiences with these folks.
And the juvenile Christians who seem to consider their faith an elite, exclusive club and take their pleasure in pointing fingers and laughing at all the people who "are going straight to hell." This is the "we're the only legitimate faith" crowd that keeps the founding fathers rolling in their graves.

I am not a Christian and I think that a lot of the questions and answers on this site do serve a purpose.
It's like when your mom tells you to drive safely every time you leave her house. If she doesn't tell you and you have a wreck she will feel awful but if she does tell you and you don't have a wreck then she feels she has helped you somehow.
Understand?
Who knows what "seeds" you may plant in someone just because you asked or answered a question with the love you know you have in you?
I myself have changed my ways of how I ask or answer a question just because of "Blessed" answering one of my questions. I try to not be hateful in asking or answering on this site anymore. I saw that it served no purpose for me to get "outraged" at anyone especially if I asked an "outraged" question or gave an "outraged" answer.
So yes, continue to ask or answer if you want to and continue to do it with dignity.
Some of us like it.

Contrary to what some people might believe - I have NO problem with any religion - let people believe in what THEY want to believe whether it is Wicca, Christianity Buddhism whatever.
What I do dislike is the shoving it down my throat fanatics that have the mightier than thou attitude.
And when I express something, being told I'll go straight to hell cause I don't believe in God - CALM DOWN! is what I want to say
