I have a jag xk8 and I was sat at some lights with a ford transit beside me. When the lights went green we went for it but the tranny beat me to the next set!!!! WHAT THE HELL!!!!

Can you explain?
Do you have a fast motor that gets wooped at lights??

Hhhhhmmmmmm

The XK8s a great looking car.
Your always going to get a slight delay from a standing start with an auto box.
Keep your foot on the brake and keep your revs up.
Then foot off brake and floor it when lights change.

That said you shouldn't have to do this against a tranny. All I can think is the Jags no lightweight and the tranny must have been empty.

Dump the Jag and get a good car that beats everything from the lights changing. I drive a Skoda Fabia 1.4 Diesel Turbo and I have yet be be beaten.

The transit is geared low, for carring weight, no load then it will shift like sh1t of a shovel. especilly if its a 2.5 turbo.
Low top speed but it will get there quickly

Remember the old Vauxhall astramax diesel vans, they could out accellerate a VW Golf GTi

there is a ford transit van that has been fitted with a 1990 F1 benneton engine. I have seen it racing around silverstone

I would suggest this F1 engined transit van is the one that beat you out of the lights ;-)

Didn't you know? White vans are the fastest things in the world!

Thrust SST was just a transit in a ball gown!

Concord was a transit with wings.........etc

all this and space for a chest of drawers in the back too!

Yep, I have a Nissan 350Z and i got wooped by a banged up, rusty white Astra, crammed with pre pubescent boys, asking if i'd like to be shown a good time........!?
Very annoying!!

It only ever happens when you want to prove a point!!

But no big deal. x x x

You probably made that van drivers week, so feel good about yourself. x x x

what if you hit some unfortunate child, adult, or in my case
Grandparents....in their car, on a motorway.... I think
you should apologise for the upset you have caused in
posting this question to many like myself...

1. Your Jag has automatic transmission, or
2. you haven't learned how to drive it properly.

Personally, I have an mg and can whop (as opposed to woop) virtually anything on 4 wheels that's street-legal based on my power-to-weight ratio, but prefer to laugh at the boy-racers who think they can "take" me and are looking in their rear-view mirrors to find out why I'm not right up their arses when they hit the kerb/artic/ditch.

Grow up, the road is for all of us to use SAFELY, jerk.
