It depends on the shelter or rescue. Most will allow adoption at age 18 but some might require you to be 21.

If it is something that you extremely favor to do, then you truthfully and your fiance favor to sit and characteristic an in-intensity talk about this. i do not understand how a lot you 2 have observed it, if it became a lengthy communique or a standard "i desire this dogs" "no" "why not" "because..." type of replace. You do favor to appreciate your fiance's desires, yet he also desires to appreciate yours. both of you want to talk all the reason why, and why not (the dogs is geriatric and all geriatric dogs have well being topics...if funds are a real concern it can be a foul time to carry those type of topics into the image, per chance area extremely is the vast situation...your animals would get alongside properly with different animals yet finally being too crowded can replace that). both one in each of you want to hearken to out the different. and are available to the decision about no matter if it really is a approaches to anybody in contact mutually. it is someone you've agreed to spend something else of your existence with. significant judgements mutually with no matter if to undertake yet another puppy or not at the on the spot are not yours or his on my own to make. As for no matter if it may be too not ordinary for you...you in no way understand. a 10 year previous lab is genuinely geriatric and also you truthfully received't have 10 extra years with him. yet think ofyou've got 4, 5, or six extra years. Or fewer...per chance 12 months or perhaps a lot less. both way, you could have a incredible bond with him for even with time he has left or perhaps as he does die you'll mourn your loss. ultimately this is as a lot as you. many human beings may say "do not do it, you'll in ordinary words be inviting heartache," yet when he's properly worth being saddened through his passing, then isn't it properly truthfully worth the love you had even as he became with you?

Technically, you only have to be 18. However, dogs can be quite expensive (I have two). Consider the following expenses: adoption fees, food for its entire lifetime, shots and other vet bills, toys, snacks, bedding, a crate, poop removing bags/scoppers, carpet cleaner (for puppy's accidents), leashes, collars, licenses, vaccines, registrations, grooming costs (either buying the stuff yourself - shampoo, toe nail clippers, hair clippers, etc, or taking the dog elsewhere for grooming), dental costs, neutering costs, training/obedience school.... not to mention the time and energy you need to have to train it, potty train it, teach it good behavior, walk it, and plus you have to be home to let it out - you can't just come and go as you please anymore, you have to think of your dog... dogs can be great, but THINK about costs and time and if you will be able to have a good enough job to put your money into a dog instead of maybe clothes or entertainment or whatever you spend your moeny on now.

18 is generally the age but be aware that most rescue/shelters require a landlord's consent i.e. proof that you own your own home or a clause in your lease stating that you are allowed to have dogs. If your landlord is your parent(s) they will need to accompany you and give consent or possibly act as a 'co-adopter' to guaruntee that the pet will not be put out by a future landlord.

19 is considerred old enough, if you can help care for the puppy. In fact, you should if it's your dog. Talk with your family and see what they say.

I'm sure 19 is old enough. If its old enough to vote, and old enough to go off to war, then it should be old enough to get a pet.
