The only "real" god isn't revealed in books. The only true god there could possibly be is revealed in the laws of nature, science, the cosmos. That is the only god who is truly genuine. Books like the bible turn people away from the discovery of the real "God".

I would have had to have heard about God from my parents, and they from their parents, etc. all the way back to the first people. If people had knowledge of God then at some point something that was not human had to tell them about God. If something had not told humans about God along the way, then humans would have never had the information to pass on to the next generation, and nobody would have ever known about God.
This only works in a vacuum of succession. It is possible that humans made God up. If this is the case, then it is possible that I could have learned about God through my imagination, and my parents would have not been necessary. If somebody just made the Christian faith up at some point, then that person was a liar, or a lunatic. However, if the claims of the Christian faith are true, then the person that made the claims wasn't a liar or a lunatic.
There is compelling evidence based on the testimonies of people both extra-biblical and non-Christian such as Flavius Josephus that say Jesus did what was written in the Bible. If this type of evidence exists from nonpartisan sources, then it seems only fair to conclude that Jesus was who the Christians claim he was, and the succession you speak of starts with Jesus himself. This would also make it possible for me to learn about Jesus by studying history. In such a case, I wouldn't need my parents, pastor, or anyone else for that matter to learn about Jesus.
If Jesus didn't exist, then it is most likely that we wouldn't have the Bible. It would be possible for the Bible to come into existence without Jesus' existence, but highly unlikely. If somebody made up the Bible, then they would have had to have had a detailed knowledge of Jewish history and theology, details knowledge of geography, details knowledge of world history, and extreme creativity in order to impersonate many writing styles, come up with an entirely new theology, and the ability to put all this together on what we know as the New Testament. This is highly unlikely to have occurred, so it is safe to say that if I suppose the Bible didn't exist, then I have to suppose that Jesus didn't exist. So to answer your question, it would be impossible to know about God or Jesus if the Bible didn't exists.
But if the Bible does exist, then I have to suppose that Jesus did exist or accept that the Bible is the biggest prank ever pulled on mankind. I don't think the latter is possible in the view of history, so I accept the former and the claims that the book itself makes.

Throughout time there have been people already who have existed without the bible and without any knowledge given to them about God and yet somehow every group of people in every part of the world has...figured out that there was a creator. The indians the aztecs the incas, american indians, eskimos, (who told them?), etc...other nations and cultures and where as not all of the stories are the same, the common denominator is still the same. God exists and there has been that instinct of knowing since the beginning of time. It is because of that overwhelming instict that man even created names for different Gods resulting in the manifestation of mythology - Greek, Roman, Egyptian. They created different names for everything not comprehending the vastness of God or realizing that He is the only God or ONE GOD.
I believe it is even more ridiculous reading your question than answering it. These cultures and what happened is history and fact. What do you have to base YOUR theory on?

On the catholic church.
Jesus didnt start that church....Paul did.
The biggest problem with various faiths is that often they dont even know their own history or basically ignore facts.
Christians for example, trumphet the founding fathers (usa) as christians when in fact, majority were not.
They were religious yes, and there were christians in the mix.... but some were like Jefferson, a known deist.
Even some of the good comments, confusing god & Jesus.
While I understand the trinity, it still doesnt mean that the two different life forms (Jesus & god) are the same being.
Yes, I would agree Jesus is of god and is a god, but he his not 'THe god, the creator of all things', though many faiths are making Jesus more important that God himself.

You should ask yourself why you need to come to this section to ask such questions and make such statements when you Don't Believe in God unless you really do and must seek acceptance from those who you don't know and they don't really care about you and what you think. You are a depressed and sick person to be fixated on those who choose to believe and have values that defines who they are and who they want to be. The bible doesn't just determine God's existence. There's more than you will ever know. You believe in God and wanted him to be a magical being to get you access to what you want and when God didn't answer the way you wanted then you became bitter and now you are attacking God and believers. Don't blame believers for the hate you feel against God and for the sinful lifestyle that you want to continue to live in. God loves you but he will not bless you for the sinful lifestyle that you continue in. Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. A Fool says in his heart that there is no GOD.

The stars tell the story of God. Not talking astrology, but astronomy. I heard a presentation on "the witness of the stars" once, and it was fascinating.
But, I don't know in practical terms, how I would have known about God other than in the ways you've mentioned. Our minds are finite; God's is infinite. He would find a way to communicate with us if He needed to.

Well...obviously the answer is NO. No one is ever born with the notion of religion or God...this is something learned through one's parents and socialization with other people.
What will matter though is what happens when that child grows up into a mature, thinking adult...then he/she alone can decide whether to keep that faith that was bred into him/her by their particular culture or leave and find something new.
(Something else I thought up)
As to where the notion of God or religion really came from...I am not a time traveller so none of us (even you) can exactly tell where did this come from...

the problem with a "what if" question is that it is a "what if" question. The Bible has been written but also do you think Adam and Eve had a Bible? how about Abraham? They knew God existed and he did Talk to them. as a matter of fact Adam and Eve saw him in his physical form.

God's Word says, "Mine Word have I WRITTEN UPON THE TABLES OF THINE HEART (your conscience)". It means that even without direct confrontation with a representative of the Church or a God-fearing parental upbringing, God will "speak" to your heart at a time in your life when you should be able to hear His voice and heed His call. You must learn to respond much like Samuel did when God called him as a child. Samuel was too young to understand, even WITH contact with spiritual direction (Levi) yet had enough FAITH to respond.

Yes, I would have known about a God. Because just like the Indians years and years ago did not have a Bible, they too knew that there was a Great One. They did not call him God, they did not know of Jesus nor of his Holy Spirit, but they knew that there was The Great Spirit, the Great God. So, would I. Because it is a natural necessity that we humans have to believe in something greater than ourselves. Of course since God is so perfect, he talked to humans (He can do this you know) and inspired them to write...hence we have the Scriptures...and because of the scriptures we know that if you have never heard of the real God, nature would have let you know in all you would have seen and heard. Oh, and another thing, God is not about logic, it is much more greater than this, it's about faith...God bless!
