Most cats should adjust ok. Just make sure that if you use a kennel it is for an extra large sized dog. This will give him enough space to put his litter box further away from his food. Also it will give you enough room to give him a makeshift hammock or shelf to hang out a little higher up. To a cat this increases visual square footage. "Midwest" also makes a cat playpen that is designed similar to that of a ferret cage with many levels. It is taller than it is wide so you wont use as much floor space ...you can easily put a hammock in there for him too. You can buy a large sized ferret hammock and that will work too. It sounds like you are going to have to deal with this for the rest of his life so I would suggest that you invest in a good product to give you extended usage.

If it's only whn you are away, should be okay. But cats are picky about relaxing in the same area with litter boxes. Trylining the kennel with papers and leave out the litter box. He will probably hold it in until you come home to avoid eliminating in his sleeping space. Also, ask your vet how they kennel their patients?

it's perfectly fine, your kitty will get use to it. My friend used one her's as a time out type thing. Her cat got really mad for some reason and was consistantly peed and poop in the room she was turning into a babyroom (she wasn't pregnant, just preparing ) and so Hades was stayed there when she was gone. I know your not using it the same way she did. But it works, and I know from experience with renting and having a pet your not suppose to (shhh) that it's a good idea. Just put a toy or two in there to play with as well

Of course you could kennel a cat, I think it is a good solution. Another solution is trying diapers for kitty. It sounds like a ridiculous idea, but there are many pet owners out there with similar problems, however the more aggressive cates usually fight like hell to get them off. Kind of like trying to dress up your Doberman in a dress, ya know? Check out http://www.pseudomart.com/catchit/diapers.html and see if you are interested. Good luck with kitty!

That would be fine, it helps to train them. I used to put my cat in one at night & when I was gone because he used to get on the counters & get onto things, I did it for about 6 mon & now he never goes back in because he behavies now. Just make sure it large enough for his litterpan, his bed, & some toys(Ifound that my cat like the toys to hang from atop his cage, so he could play with it without it going into his litter). Also don't leave him in their for to long, he could get depressed. And if you go out of town for a few days you should make sure someone could care for it while your gone.

that sounds like a good idea. put some toys in there and put the crate somewhere where the cat can look out and see a lot
if she soils in there make sure you clean it out well, use nature's miracle spray to clean it.
when our cats are being bad at night we put them in a large dog crate with a small litter box incase they have to go at night, we put some toys in there so they are occupied and won't keep us up.

Should be fine. Maybe try to find a kennel that caters to cats?

It's fine, as long as the kennel is kept clean. Not to mention if you give him medicine it will be easier to find him.

And a soft bed I hope. It might be best to do that. Are you having any success in managing the diabetes?
