Everyone is worried about foreign terrorists. The people I know have been shot and murdered by guns carried by americans that were born here and lived here for generations. The were not Muslim. I am more worried about gang violence, drive by shootings and murder by an american. Lets look at the stats in the USA really what is more likely? Yeah we had 9/11 and it was horrible, but how many people in relation to the murder rate to americans and our own home grown domestic terrorists like colimbine or timothy micvay or the serial killers or all the other violence?
Question How many others are more scared of domestic violence and should we have neighborhood terror allerts when the crime rate goes up? Lets get real here? What is more likely? Yeah an airplane is more excitiing an horiific, but people get shot every day in my city at least.

The problem is that they do not leave the regular people out of it. They kill us for gang initiation or for fun. They just like to shoot at people walking down the street.

People also get killed for stupid reasons like they were too stick with their kid. Jealously because some girl had another guy and was cheating. Random stuff with people being attacked. Police being attacked pulling people over for traffic stops. Just random junk.

Media.
The news media hype the terrorists threat so most of those watching/reading think about it more.
They sit in their easy chair watching the nightly news while ignoring the violence across town

You have a point to an extent, but for the most part with the exception of a few lunatics --- the murders that happen by and large are gang members killing gang members or drugs are involved, in other words, it is the scum getting rid of the scum, if you stay straight, you have a pretty good chance of being OK. Terrorists on the other hand want to destroy ALL Americans, if the administration had treated Bin Laden like Clinton did, we would have been attacked again, probably several times. That is why the US needs to stay diligent on the war against terror and take it to their battleground, not ours.
However, crime in the US is out of hand, our Justice system is screwed up so you do make a good point but I would rather be here than anywhere else as there is a sense of justice, in other parts of the world people take matters into their own hands and there is no accountability.

Gangs are out of control, or should I say, trying to control truff and the justice system isnt working. I had a judge in a class I took ask the group, " do you know what lady justice looks like??. She is standing there, blindfolded, holding a Bible and a balance, , , , , and is staggering drunk!"
Terrorism is real, and Americans have been targeted multiple times since the 80's to include not one, but TWO attacks on the WTC. The first one was a truck bomb in the parking garage.
With our troops keeping the terrorists busy in Afghanistan and Iraq, i worry more about gang bangers and being someplace where someone is comitting a robbery or something, and me getting shot.
The only way to fix it is:
1. Elect officals who support strong crime bill laws and law enforcement.
2. Elect local judges who have a track record of being tough on crime.
3. Any elected offical who is soft on crime, bomb them with letters and calls until they wake up, or get voted out of office.
Its about all we can do, but its better than sitting there doing nothing.

The statistics support what you are saying...the violence rate is higher on the streets in the US and more people are murdered here than have died in Afghanistan and Iraq yearly. The answer...untie the police's hands and let them do their job effectively, get tough on the judicial system metering out strong sentences for repeat criminals, and make parents more accountable for the whereabouts of their children as well as teaching them right from wrong.

People are scared of dieing no matter which way it happens. I am scared of gang violence and wonder if any of my neighbors will want to try and kill me. It is scary and yes I worry about that more. At the sametime you just can't think about that, if you do you will never leave your home.
