I just wanted to know what the appropriate tip would be for someone who cut your hair. I just got my haircut and it was $13, I gave her a $5 tip because I wasn't sure how much is appropriate. Is there a percentage expected? How about the people who do your nails?

Good 4 u! Thanks 4 realizing u should tip! $5 was a great tip for a $13 service. Typically it's 15% if ur just satisfied & 18% for a more than satisfactory service. Haircuts r $12 where I work & our tips range from $0 (jerks) to $8. Were not paid much hourly b/c our employer (& the i.r.s) expects we'll be getting tips so when we get stiffed or under tipped we suffer terribly financially.

1. Tip the stylist 10 to 15 percent of your total bill if he or she is the only person who worked on your hair.

2. Give the shampoo person - if there is one - a separate gratuity. Typically, a shampoo person receives $1 to $2.

3. Offer a 10 percent tip in a barbershop. If you don't get your hair cut very often but usually go to the same shop, consider a $5 tip.

4. Tip the manicurist $1 to $3.

5. Use common sense for everyone else, from the hair setter to the assistant.

6. Keep in mind that a good tip to your colorist or hairstylist might help the next color job or cut.

I usually give my hairdresser $10 I've just always had. Because I thought it was fair enough. Tips for nail. Like $3 ish.
I wouldn't say there is a percentage expected eventhough it may be written somewhere. but I think you tip the person according on how well they did their job. Not because of the law. If it were like that it's kinda like forcing money out of you that you don't want to give. anyways my conculsion whatever you think is fair enough is good enough.

Have a nice day!

there is no percentage expected...tip 15% unless you really like it then tip more...and if you hate it look at your explanation of what you asked for...was it detailed enough?...did you bring a picture? before you tip less...cause if you dont tip and you go back...expect mediocre work...never tip less than $2 dollars though...its insulting to the stylist...you might as well be giving a quarter

The standard minimum is 15%, 20% if you really like the work.
