Take it from me, don't do it. You can lose 70 lbs without it. I lost 80 lbs. on my own after my doctor wouldn't let me have the surgery. I wanted the surgery so bad because I was tired of fighting my weight. I told my doctor and he said I wasn't fat enough. I was very upset and decided to 'show him' by gaining more weight. I was desperate for a solution to being overweight and for whatever reason I thought the surgery would do it. The thing is that by the time I gained all the weight, I became disgusted and just decided to do something about it asap. So I started eating better and exercising a lot. I lost almost 80 lbs. in one year. I did it conservatively so as not to crash. I tried to change my lifestyle and it worked. I have kept most of the weight off for the last two years, and now that I'm lighter I've become even more active. I hover between 150-160 now but I'm a lot happier and healthier. If I had gotten the surgery I'm convinced I'd be fat again... because I would not have learned in the year I was losing weight how to control my weight. The lapband or gastro bypass surgery are not foolproof. People DO gain the weight back. I have two friends who did it and they did gain the weight back. It's because they 'got their weight loss for free.' Like in all things, you don't appreciate it or realize its value if you didn't earn it. Don't give up on trying to lose weight on your own. It's not easy but if you stick with it, you'll do it. And if you lose the weight, you'll need the money for a tummy tuck so don't blow it on the lapband. (PS. To pay for the gastro bypass surgery, one of my friends had it done in Monterrey, Mexico since her insurance wouldn't cover it. Insurance only covers it if you have health problems relating to your weight. At 70lbs. overweight you probably don't. And your insurance usually only pays after you're 100 lbs. overweight... but don't even THINK about trying to get there just for the insurance... it stretches your skin permanently and THAT SUCKS! Just lose those 70lbs. on your own!)

It costs between $12,000-$18,000 and most people use insurance, if you MD can link any of your health problems to obesity and your BMI is greater than 40, your insurance may pay...usually you don't qualify unless you need to lose over 100 lbs

Keep that meal between 400 and six-hundred calories. Serve yourself a more compact portion, so if you like coming back again for seconds, you'll just find yourself eating a normal-size portion.

Add veggies to baked merchandise. You'll never even taste your zucchini in these brownies or the sweet potato in these cookies.

Close to $18,000.00
And it's getting harder and harder to get the insurance companies to pay for the surgery. I know because I've tried.
Good luck.

Instead of cream cheese or butter upon bread or bagels, spread almond or maybe peanut butter. The healthy fats satiate hunger and may decrease belly fat.
