Sorry to hear about that...unfortunately, modern medicine can only do so much.
My suggestion would be to see another gastro-intestinal specialist for a second opinion.
Also, if you have all the details of her diseases, take time to search the web...there is a lot of useful information out there that might help you and her cope with the situation.
Lastly, get a nutritionist to recommend a diet that would help her maintain a healthy life for her remaining days.
Unfortunately, no one here gets out alive...but that doesn't mean we can't stay healthy until the end.
Good luck.

I would consult a good Internal Medicine Physician and have this re-looked into. Perhaps things have changed. Why does she not have an colostomy?-an external large intestine that is easy to manage. Also realize that when our loved ones become ill or are close to death, it may be the time to come together and give her love and yourselves before she dies. You do not want to miss this opportunity, as you might if you were looking for a cure and she suddenly died. You need to let her know that you love her and what she means to you. None of us will live forever, but to know we have our loved ones is so reassuring, she may just feel better from that.

The max life span with disease is a statistic average and you grandma app. has take good care of her self. The is no reason why she should die exactly after 10 year. She could have easily after 1 year from complications. It is also a matter of life will and attitude. She can make another 10 years if she is lucky.

Realize that doctors are giving her statistical advice, what people "on average" will live with that condition. Almost never to people live to the exact day that the doctor has predicted. For every one that lives less, one lives more. Sounds as though you grandma is gonna be one of the ones that lives more.
BTW, there is lots of information missing here. I know of no doctor who can predict that far out. How has her health been recently?

I am a RN with 21+yrs experience. No one can predict when some one will die from cancer---it could be sooner or much much later. Get treatment, eat healthy, drink water and enjoy life one day at a time. Remember that when her time comes---it takes alot of love to let someone go without undue suffering . Sometimes MDs keep doing procedure after procedure that will not help. Let your heart be your guide

doctors don't have a crystal ball and usually they will tell you this. you can research millions of stories when patients have been given months to live that lived 20 years and tons just like this. God is in control and you have to release the anxiety that you aren't going to be able as hard as it seems to find something miraculously to change the situation. I will be praying for you and your family.

The 10 years is not a hard and fasy given, but only an estimate. She could easily live longer.

I know of a spiritual technology. There is one who had given life and that same one can prolong life. Some faith in God could turn the situation around. With God, all things are possible.

this is a pretty grave situation. losing someone can suck really bad. unfortunetly, for someone in advancced age is your grandmother, resusitation is impossible, perhaps. No new technology has been discovered for anything of the sort. death is natural. from the moment we are born, death in a way...chases us. until the day we die.
